Procedure to Unlock after at least 40 days of service:
If its been more than 40 days with tmobile sim card active on the phone the easiest is to contact T-Force on Twitter (@TMobileHelp) or Facebook asking them to unlock the device. You need following details,
IMEI, PhoneNumber and Email
You will receive a email saying the unlock has been processed.
Wait for another 48 hours (as per instructions in email) and try to insert another carrier simcard.

Other ways to check the phone is unlocked (If you don't have another carrier simcard handy).

Deal Extended Until 12/26/19

If you're getting the following error when you try to submit a rebate, Wait 24 hours from when you purchased the phones, it takes about that long for them to be added to the system:

The device IMEI entered is not eligible for this promotion, please re-enter or contact 1-877-470-3619 for details.
if a day later you still are having trouble see this:

You guys running a promotion at Costco to add a line, trade in 6S or higher iPhone and get $700 rebate back, but the promotion site isn't allowing the rebate submissions. The CSRs have no clue on what the issue is and when it will be fixed. How?
the promotion site gives error that the device IMEI is not eligible for this promotion which is obviously not the case per promotion terms and conditions. This issue is widespread, not just with me. How the fix can be so tricky and complicated?
They're responding to people with some version of:
Quote :
Thank you for taking the time to provide that information! We are definitely aware of the issue and we are working to get it resolved. Please keep attempting to resubmit the application. Though if you find that you're not able to submit the form by December 25th please reach out to our rebate team at 888-390-6867. We are hoping that this will be resolved sooner but please call that number before January 1st! We definitely have our best people on this.
It should be noted that the information assembled here has been gathered from member comments on previous deals. If your Costco rep is telling you something different, there's a good chance they're misinformed. There's no need to argue with them. Just trust the wiki.
  1. The difference between the Costco offer and the T-Mobile offer is
    A) Costco sells iPhones for cheaper than T-Mobile does
    B) Costco does not charge any activation fees, and
    C) through Costco, you will be issued a one-time bill credit equal to the quoted value of your trade-in phone + a Mastercard Debit Card in the remaining amount = the pre-tax purchase price of your phone, while T-Mobile will offer you 24 months of bill credits.
  2. In order to take advantage of the above referenced rebate in the form of a one-time bill credit + a Mastercard Debit Card, you must walk out of Costco with a new phone. If the phone you want is NOT in stock, and you accept the Costco rep's offer to have a new phone shipped to you, you will received the 24 months of bill credits. If you purchase online through the Costco/Membership Wireless website, you will receive 24 months of bill credits.
  3. Note that the promo says UP TO $700. That's because if you don't purchase a phone that's over $700, you won't get $700 back. (i.e. if you purchase a iPhone 11 64GB for $630, you'll only get $630 back. You won't get credit for taxes)
  4. No one in this thread has any secret insight if your local Costco will restock before the promo ends. If the phone you want is not available, you always have 90 days to exchange it (wait until after you receive the rebate). Just remember that if you buy an iPhone 11 128GB for $680 and you receive your Mastercard debit card for $680 and then decide to buy a more expensive phone, T-Mobile will probably not add $20 to your rebate debit card.
  5. If you took advantage of the previous $580 promo earlier this month, you are still eligible to participate in this promotion. It's also a max of 4 redemptions per account this time around.
  6. Postpaid plans are required. Any currently offered unlimited postpaid plan is eligible. One plans are also eligible. Simple Choice and older plans are most likely NOT included. There have been some reports of people saying that Simple Choice will work. TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK IF YOU HAVE A SIMPLE CHOICE PLAN and your Costco rep says that the Simple Choice Unlimited Plan is eligible. Seeing as the Simple Choice is a recent exclusion, there haven't been any verified cases of Simple Choice members receiving a rebate from recent promotions, so it's probably a mistake on the Costco rep's part. If you run the risk and it turns out the Costco rep gave you misinformation, the Costco rep will finger point at T-Mobile, and T-Mobile will finger point right back at Costco. You'll probably be stuck in limbo like Mr. Saito.
  7. The Essential plan is $60 + tax for one line. The Magenta plan is $70 with tax included. It may be cheaper to go with Magenta depending on how much your state's taxes are. If you don't know what your state charges, just go with the Magenta plan. It'll save you the effort of guesswork.
  8. If you're an existing customer, you have to add a voice line to take advantage of the promotion. Switching your phone number from a current T-Mobile account to your friend/family member's account does not count as adding a line. Porting out of T-Mobile and trying to immediately port back into T-Mobile also will not work. Your phone number needs to have been gone from T-Mobile for 90 days before the company will treat you like a new customer.
  9. If you're on Metro or other T-Mobile MVNO, you will qualify as a new customer on T-Mobile.
  10. There is a sliding scale of reward for this deal. Obviously if you trade-in an iPhone 7, you will get more out of this deal than if you trade-in an iPhone XS Max. We get that it doesn't make sense to trade in the XS Max when you can sell on Swappa for more money; just move along. If you don't care about receiving 24 bill credits and would rather be able to pick and choose the exact color you want, just move along.
  11. You can trade in any carrier locked iPhone, and the phone does not have to have active service on it. The most obvious requirements are that the iPhone works, it's not iCloud locked, it's been paid off, it's not blacklisted, it's in good condition, and not water damaged. See below for the known credible cheaper options for purchasing an iPhone 7.
  12. If your phone has a small crack or chip on it, if the cameras don't work, or if your home button doesn't work, it's YMMV on whether Assurant will accept it. We don't know the specifications of what they require. Maybe someone here was able to get a rebate when they had one of those issues. If you want to risk it, you can. If you don't, you can either replace the screen if applicable or buy an iPhone 7.
  13. To take advantage of the deal, you or someone you know must have a Costco membership. Make sure the person with the membership is there. For new Costco members, it's been reported that some Wireless Kiosks maintain that you have to have been a Costco member for a certain amount of time in order to take advantage of the deal. If that's the case, find a Costco manager to ask if that's true, since Costco is technically the one selling the physical phones. Or you can try to return at another time with a different rep who may be nicer.
  14. Head to your local Costco's Wireless Center Kiosk. Once you let the rep know you want to take advantage of the rebate offer and what phone(s) you want to purchase, s/he will print out a slip for you to take to the Costco checkout counter. They'll scan the slip for you and you'll pay in full for the phone(s) immediately. Then head back to the wireless kiosk to wait for a Costco associate to bring your newly purchased phones to the kiosk. After that, the rep will proceed to take down the info for your trade-in phones.
  15. YMMV on whether you need to physically bring your trade-in phone with you to Costco. Some rep will insist on inspecting your physical phone, others may simply ask for the IMEI number. It's probably not worth the time to argue with them that another store does something different. Be smart about pissing off a rep. Remember that they're the ones setting up your $700 rebate...
  16. Once your rep inputs the IMEI number(s) of your trade-in phone(s), s/he should provide you with a shipping label(s) for the trade-in -- one for each phone you're trading in. If you don't have the IMEI of the phone you want to trade-in (maybe it's currently en route in shipping to you), or if you end up wanting to change your trade-in phone, you can go back to the store at a later time and ask the rep to process the change and print out a new shipping label for you. However, it's YMMV on whether or not they know how to do that. If they insist that it's not possible to change or update IMEI, ask nicely if they can call another Costco Wireless Center to ask how to do it.
  17. Costco does not take your trade-in phone and mail it in for you. You are in charge of mailing it to Assurant within 30 days, so you will leave Costco with both your old and new phones.
  18. It's very important that the trade-in phone's IMEI is correct on your shipping label sheet. on the other hand, it does not matter if the phone's specs are wrong (i.e. if you have a Space Grey iPhone 7 from Boost, but the rep accidentally put down a Black iPhone 8 from Verizon.) Your trade-in value in the form of a bill credit may be raised or lowered though. However, you will still get the full $700 with the amount on your Mastercard debit card adjusted accordingly.
  19. The Costco rep may open the packaging for your new iPhone and turn on the phone to activate service. Even if s/he doesn't, you still need to turn on the phone to activate it in order to properly get credit for the rebate. There's no way to preserve the packaging of the phone in order to sell. Once activated, the phone can be unlocked after 40-41 days.
  20. For past deals, members have been able to switch their current number's SIM card into the new phone and still receive credit. The wording changed on the previous $580 deal earlier this month, so it may be YMMV, but should still be fine. To be safe, you may consider making some phone calls, sending some texts and using some data on the new phone with the new SIM before switching to your current number's SIM.
  21. The Costco rep may claim that they have to add insurance. If they insist on it, you can contact T-Force after you leave and ask for them to remove and refund the insurance.
  22. You have to submit your rebate online at t-mobile.com/promotions [t-mobile.com] in addition to shipping in your phone. Enter the code COSTCOAPPLENOV and the IMEI of your new phone on the initial promotion screen. On this initial page, make sure you select the new line through which the new phone is under. On the following screen, you can ask T-Mobile to text the virtual rebate card to any number on your account (it's not restricted to just the new number).
  23. At Costco, you will get a quote for trade-in value of your phone based on its specs. Once you mail your phone and Assurant receives and inspects it, T-Mobile will give you a bill credit in the amount of the quote (or they may adjust the quote if something about the phone is different, i.e. your iPhone is locked to a carrier instead of being unlocked). You will then receive a Mastercard debit card in the amount of $700 MINUS your bill credit (assuming that you get $700 rebate -- see the bullet point about the UP TO verbiage).
  24. Once you receive your rebate, you can cancel your service. T-Mobile won't hunt you down to return the rebate card. According to some members, the reason Costco reps claim you must keep the line open for at least 6 months is because they don't receive commission if you cancel before the 6 month limit. If this bothers you that the rep won't receive commission, but you don't want to pay an extra 3-4 months of service, you can always tip your rep. If you don't care, I don't blame you.
  25. There is currently a known issue with submitting the rebate, especially for the purple iPhone 11s. T-Mobile says that its aware of the issue and working on fixing it, but TBD on when it will be fixed. See here and here.
  26. You can purchase a locked iPhone from Boost, Tracfone et. al, and Cricket. If you purchase online, just note that there is a chance that your newly bought refurbished phone arrives with some issue(s). If it's under warranty and Apple can repair it, you'll be okay as long as you submitted the IMEI when you went to Costco. However, if Apple decides to ship it to the repair warehouse, and then decides after a few days to replace the phone entirely, you run the risk of missing out on this deal. (The reason being if Apple decides to replace your phone, you'll get a new phone with a different IMEI number and there isn't any data on a rep changing the trade-in IMEI info after the deal expires).
  27. Boost has an in-store promotion [boostmobile.com] for BOGO iPhone 7. The phones should cost $50 + $50 plan + activation fee + tax = roughly $120-130. There have been known instances of Boost employees being shady and charging significantly more. Some people have suggested that you're more likely to get the true deal pricing if you go to a corporate Boost store.
  28. When you're factoring your net cost of doing this deal, remember that if you're (temporarily) switching over your entire cell service to T-Mobile to account for that in your calculations (i.e. if you used to pay $50 at Metro for cell service, and switch over to T-Mobile for this deal and now pay $70 for Magenta, this should only be an additional $20 in your cost calculations. It's not an additional $70 to your costs since you would have been paying for cell service regardless of whether or not you took advantage of this deal.)
  29. Take note of the "Accepted Offer Value" on the Merchandise Return Label sheet. If that value is $0.00, you will NOT be eligible for the promotion and will NOT get the full $700.00. I confirmed this with T-mobile promotions representative. They suggested I go back to the store and have the Costco rep correct and print out a new label. When this happens, it is most likely that the costco rep incorrectly answered the questions asking about the condition of the phone. Please make sure that the "Accepted Offer Value" is greater than $0.00 before submitting online as well as making sure the IMEI details are correct for the trade-in phone.

Jeez...

-Simple Choice is NOT eligible. No, your account isn't special. It won't work. You have to change plans

-If you don't walk out of the store w/ the new Iphone in your hand, you will get bill credits. Which means you are stuck for 2 years and the extra you're paying for the line lessens this deal.

-Deal is $500 rebate for 6s phones, $700 for iPhone 7 and beyond. If you have an iPhone 6 or lower, you're getting no rebate. End of story. There are no loopholes or "what ifs".

-Phone screen can't be cracked. Not a "what about a little crack in the corner" comment. It will be rejected. Same goes for "what about a home button not working." Try it, but don't be surprised when it gets rejected. It's your $700 gamble. Stop asking if it will work.

-If your screen is cracked, get it fixed by a 3rd party place before sending in. It's typically less than $100

-Phone can be unlocked after 40 days w/ a request to Tmobile, and then used with any wireless service.

-Can't cancel line until you get your rebate; then go ahead and cancel or port out. Rebate takes 2-3 months to get

-Phone supports dual sim, so put your current ph# on the Esim (just go to a Tmobile store and ask) and the sim card with your new # in the phone. Yes, you can now have 2 numbers on new iPhones. Then you don't risk the phone # not being active while waiting for the rebate.

-If you want a cheap iPhone 7, look on the internet. Don't be lazy. Otherwise try a boost mobile store and read the "instore promo" offers on their website. Some are shady, so ask everything they're charging you for.

-Lastly, don't trust the Costco wireless reps. Hundreds of people here have done this and similar deals. They know better than any rep you will meet, as they've all done these deals.

- Article on how to check if your iphone is paid off: https://www.itemcycle.com/how-to/...s-paid-off

- Must actually open the iPhone 11 box and use the phone to register with T-mobile. Can't keep the box sealed or your rebate won't be fulfilled.

My local store didn't have the iPhone 11 in stock and I was told I'd still get the GC rebate. After reading all the paperwork, when I got home, this isn't the case. Had to go back to cancel the line and wait for the phone shipment to arrive to go back and return that (which you have to mail yourself with the label provided). 2 weeks later, EIP is still on my account.
You are talking CRAP.....stop telling untruths.

This is ABSOLUTELY wrong

ANY listed phone, ANY carrier.....as long as its in good condition and not icloud locked

Question for the techie savvy:

My phones are "supposed" to be unlocked.

I do not have another co SIM to try. So TMO said I need to back up the phone to check if it is indeed unlock.

Since the phones are new and barely used, is such still necessary to verify the unlock status?

Sorry if my question sounds sort of "ignorant" lol TIA

When you factory reset the phone and connect to iTunes it will say so something like congratulations your phone is unlocked.

Thanks, Can you find it under your account or you have to call? I don't remember exactly - I am relatively certain that's what I used at the time of the sign-up at Costco, is that the same pin? Thanks.

Yes, it's the same PIN as you signed up at Costco. You can contact TMobile via Twitter or FB to change/reset your PIN. I checked my account I did not see account PIN info anywhere that you can change.

Finally my both phones were unlocked and I switched back to Sprint. Sprint even gave me $250 credit for coming back.
So in all my cost was $240 T-mobile bills (120/month for 2 months) and old iphone 7s.

Now I got two new iphone 11's and back to my original plan on spring. Heck of a deal.

I get pretty good coverage from Sprint. Never had any issues. Plus Sprint is in process of getting acquired by T-mobile soon. So....

I canceled my line a while ago, and just received the paper final bill with credit of $3x.xx

Do I have to call to get refund check or just wait?

Thank you!

Rebate amount
what did you end up doing? I got wrong rebate amount too.

I traded Iphone 6s, which was to give $500 back, but only received a rebate for $269.

You can have it electronically deposited into your bank account with no fees
