Edit: The OS would be put on the SSD, right? I'm just assuming.

A $25 SSD wouldn't make the decision for me, and it's pretty easy for even a non-techie to install Windows 10 from a flash drive. A clean Windows install is recommended anyway by most techies because of all the crap software companies preinstall.
I favor this one over the 12GB RAM alternative because I would want 16GB, which would mean throwing away the 4GB chip in the other one, then buying an 8GB plus an SSD. So going with the 8GB and keeping the 128GB SSD it comes with means just buying an 8GB RAM stick. Cheaper that way.
Comparing to the Office Depot one, both have custom power supplies. The Staples one is 310W, the Office Depot one is 180W. So you have the option to add a better (but still low end) video card with the Staples one.
If you're not looking to add a video card, you might compare physical sizes. I think (but don't have time to confirm) the Office Depot one is more compact.
if you don't want to futz around with a screwdriver, the Office Depot one will be overall a little faster with the SSD as shipped.

Somewhat comes down to what parts someone will throw away. A 128GB is on the small side (because most people aren't organized enough to take the extra steps to put their files and programs on the hard drive.) and only worth about $25. So someone wanting a bigger SSD might be better off with the Lenovo or the 12GB HP.
Cheapie machines usually mean tradeoffs.
Personally, I'm more comfortable with the bigger power supply. So ordered it and will either sell the Lenovo and pocket an extra $25-50, or return it. Plenty of time with extended holiday return policies.

Other than the power supply concern, it's about twice as fast, and has twice the SDD storage.
The extra CPU speed probably won't make a noticeable difference for "office work". But could be a benefit for other uses that are CPU heavy but don't require a video card, like Blue Iris.
