Sony aps-c model numbers are confusing. I personally would not invest in any of the old systems regardless of the sale price. Guess I would just encourage everyone to compare features. Versus the model number.

I see what they did by just incrementing the old version 100 to its equivalent new version. But that seems short-sighted as it won't work next round 🤦

Sony's old aps-c cameras
6000 5+ years old
6300 4+ years old
6500 3+ years old

Sony's brand new aps-c cameras
6100 - 2019
6400 - 2019
6600 - 2019

I'm pretty well versed in the a6xxx model Sony cameras. I've been shooting with the a6000 for over 4 years now and was the lucky recipient of an a6400 and a6500 thanks to Amazon. I spent a bit of time with both before deciding......on the 6400. The main reason why is the eye autofocus. Simply put I had a lot more percentage of keepers with the advantage of the faster processor in the a6400 and the continuous eye af then any advantage that In body image stabilization. And that's with primarily shooting with the sigma 16 mm and 30 mm which are NOT image stabilized. Of course this depends on your shooting style but I think that the benefits of IBIS are overstated. Yes it will help and of course is better to have it than not however it's not worth giving up the eye af that's in the a6400. And Sony is out of their minds with the a6600 pricing. So for me even though the 6500 is supposed to be a step up from the a6400 and from the perspective of price not being an option since I paid the same $95 for each of them I decided on the a6400.

As far as this deal goes the a6400 retail price is $100 more than the price of this a6500 so if you're on the fence you don't have to jump on this deal right now.

The A6500 is an amazing camera and well worth the money. I had it for two years and it was great. The only reason I upgraded to the A7III as soon as I did was because of the prime day price mistake. I recommend at least getting the 16-50. It's a great starter lens and even if you don't like it you can probably sell it for at least $100.

btw, Sony has apps for this camera (though I don't know if they work on the 6400 and 6700) but there are some here.... https://www.playmemoriescameraapps.com/portal/

Wow a prime day camera winner in the flesh. I feel kinda honored lol
But seriously that's awesome, we need like a 6 month recap of life since then. For the people! Besides the a7iii, any other hardware you picked up?

1000$ including tax for A6500 Body + 16-50 mm Lens. Is this a good deal? Placed order but wondering if I should cancel it and get the 18-105 bundle.

800+tax still bit high for me, I'll get the 700 one from UK amazon.

The 18-105 is definitely the better lens of the two but it's also more expensive. I would wait till tomorrow and try contacting Adorama and see if they can match the bundle. In many states Adorama is still tax free unlike B&H. This bundle really is a great deal though and I recommend it.

You might lose out on the warranty buying from Amazon UK but you may want to research to be sure.

18-105 is perfect for gimbal use as it's internal zoom vs. the 18-135 which extends the barrel externally.

18-135 is noticably smaller in length (about an inch).

For videos, 18-105 is the one to get.

I doubt that. Anyways I have friend in UK worst case would be mailing over for service. Yes you are right the gap is not that significant considering warranty.

See my post above about the a6400 vs the a6500.

But no don't get the 18-105 bundle. The lens is $600 all day long and that bundle is $600 more than the body only kit. Either do some research first and see what lens you really want or buy the $100 kit lens. The kit lens is not the greatest by any stretch of the imagination but it is more useful then people give it credit. It is so small and so cheap that it's still a nice lens to have in your bag. The 18-105 will get you much better image quality yes but it's quite large and even though it is a constant aperture it only stops down to f4 so it's not great at lowlight. If you plan to do primarily video with gimble this is your lens.

Not that you asked me but I picked up
a6400
a6500
RX100iii
RX100va
RX100vi
18-105 f4

I already had an a6000 and an RX100 OG. I decided to keep the a6400, 18-105, and the RX100vi, gave the RX100va to my dad. Sold the a6500. Still need to offload my old a6000, RX100, and the new RX100iii.

Overall really ecstatic. This is going to sound terrible but would love a do over. I got gun shy and didn't order everything I saw because.
1. I never in my wildest dreams thought any of it would ship.
2. I only ordered what I could possibly cover (until I returned it) if they tried to charge me full price.
3. I thought ordering more would have meant less of a chance of getting what I really wanted, the RX100iii.

But I'm kicking myself because I saw some Sony super zooms on sale for $95 as well as some amazing $4000 telescopes. But I never saw the a7iii which would have been amazing but maybe it's better I didn't because jumping to FF would have opened a whole can of worms.

Dropped the 6500 plan. What do you think about this deal? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...gital.html
