220 lbs. max. Sorry fatties!

Yeah I can't get it either lol
Please don't take this out into the ocean. This inflatable isn't built for that at all.

I've done quite a bit of kayaking in various whitewater and oceans; have experience with the wilderness tempest and tsunami hardshells as well as own the inflatable advanced element tandem and advancedframes. Bought the intex K1 for my girl once and we took it out to a pond and subsequently a lake. With the wind blowing at the lake, immediately found that the intex k1 performed extremely poorly as it was being blown about and couldn't make any headway at all. This became a bit scary for her as I needed to tow her back. Having been on the ocean with my 17 feet tempest, I wouldn't want to be out on the ocean in the intex k1 as the wind and waves would probably make it quite dangerous.

On the other hand, the intex k1 IS pretty good if you use it for what it's build for:
(1) being extremely light - even my girl could lift it up herself
(2) easy to set up - my girl had difficulty inflating the advanced elements boat with it's many valves and higher pressure needed. the intex k1 one inflates very easy
(3) keep this in calm rivers (class I and below) or ponds and lakes with very low wind. Keep within distance of shore
(4) the intex k1 is also ideal for floats down a slow/shallow river during the summer. Those rivers that people go down with tubes would be suitable for the intex k1 too.

With these in mind, the use (and price point) of the intex K1 is unbeatable. Remember, the water isn't very forgiving when you're in it, safety first!

Tl:dr intex k1 is suitable for calm rivers and lakes within sight of shore. not safe for water with significant waves or exposed to wind any stronger than a small breeze.
If you're taller than 6 feet, I would suggest the two person. I'm 6"4', and in pretty good shape and barely fit in it. Although doable, it's much more comfortable to ride in the larger one. I have both and both are great, just be aware if you are tall.

The tandem version is currently $10 more and is on the FP. Even though it's a tandem, you can still use it solo, but you'll have the extra room in case someone wants to come along.

Great deal, these seem to be $50-$60 most the time. I prefer this one over the double K2 if riding solo. This one has good back support and you dont sink so much on the bottom. I might have to pick another one of these up!

I honestly wanted to single but the K2 just looked like so much better quality I ended up going with that for the 10 additional dollars.

Thinking about taking this out into the ocean for fishing. I can only throw so far from the shore. Good idea?

I took one down to Puerto Vallarta last year and it was free with Alaska Air. Weight was less than 30lbs if I remember. I left it there when finished with 10 days of playing in the waves at mostly Sayulita. Made one of the local teens very happy to get it.

The $45 price on the explorer k2 is great. Paid 60 around this time last year. Worked pretty good on the lake this year.
