I am sure if you wait even more till 2021 or better 2022 BF, there will be even better electronics. 😛

This is after 2 says, all updates were done.

This is after coming out if sleep or restarting. Log into windows then black screen. Waited 15 minutes still black.

It works take multiple restarts to get into the system

And these don't talk to me that way. I have 15 years as a sys admin/engineer. It's garbage.

Of course I returned it before drivers were ever posted.
I pity those companies who hired you as sys admin/engineer Big Grin

So the holiday return policy for this laptop is 1/10? That gives us some decent time to spend with the laptop.

SEARCH - There are a ton of threads about this laptop with full teardown and specs

Which Ryzen 5? Weird it doesn't say. Ram upgradeable? How many slots? M.2?

Great specs for the price though...

This is the WiFi card I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B079QH5KW1

The RAM i purchased has gone up in price, but this is the RAM I'd recommend now: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Si...B071KP8CGJ

However any ddr4 sodimm at 2400mhz or higher would work -- there's a few options from Patriot and Team that are about $10 less expensive
Thanks and appreciate the info.

What about extra M2 slot? Did you fill it with a NVMe drive? If so, which one?

Sure. "However, if you do not need a new laptop this year, I'd wait until next year." How is this not always true though? When in TVs or PCs is it not cheaper a year later? The only problem is waiting a year. That's a hell of a long time to wait.

The difference with a television or "something is always better in the future" is that the current models have limits.
This motile only has 1 RAM slot and that downgrades the GPU performance.
This motile has the old (yet latest gen) R5 at 12nm, and that (1) uses more energy and (2) is not better than the current Ice Lake. The goal is 7nm and Renoir (Zen 2).
The Intel 10th Gen i5 models are very good, but Zen 2 will be better. And there are some complaints about fans and build quality.

This scenario is like 1 HDMI to 3 HDMI+USB ports on televisions.

Once you buy it, then you have to deal with selling it or not buying a much better low end model because you made the mistake.
Again...IF YOU DON'T NEED TO BUY THIS YEAR.
Some people have perfectly functioning laptops, and are just waiting to upgrade. I say wait.

This is a pretty incredible deal. But need 16 GB. Curious if anyone know if can be upgraded to 16 GB RAM?

You can, but it will cost you $50 to buy a 16GB stick. If you get $25 for selling the 8GB stick, then it's only $25 more.
There's only ONE RAM slot.

I also have an ASUS ZenBook UX360CA; although the ASUS is built "prettier," the case and keyboard flex easily and uncomfortably during normal use. The Motile's keyboard and touchpad are solidly built.
I too have that sick Asus ZenBook UX360 model, which I got it from Microsoft for $500 + tax. It failed in a year and had to sent it to Asus where they replaced pretty much everything. After about a year, it failed again! Bummer. There are few users having similar issues with the Asus ZenBook and I am glad it's still working for you.

So, when you compare this Motile to Asus ZenBook, what are your impressions? Is it built better than the Asus? I don't care about the looks much but the pictures look wonderful. I need it to last at least 3 - 4 years.

Should I return this dell I bought https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dell-I.../277831290
The Dell came with an I5 10th gen. I know the screen on the Dell is inferior but I don't care about screen so much. The Dell is a trusted brand also.

The specs say that it's an i3 10th gen.

Inferior processor + inferior GPU + less RAM + less storage + 720p panel + thicker + Windows 10 Home in S Mode are all negatives on the Dell model compared to this Motile 14.

I would NOT even hesitate to think more than a second to grab this when you compare it to the Dell model!

You can get the bundle from a previous slickdeals post for only $313 so almost $90 cheaper than the previous frontpage deal. The link to the slickdeals post is here: https://slickdeals.net/f/13504120-motile-14-performance-laptop-ryzen-5-with-radeon-vega-8-graphics-t...
do you think we could then return the mouse and bag for $72? ($60 for the bag and $12 for the mouse) Heck I'd take a gift card back if I was basically getting a $72 gift card for an extra $13 bucks

Edit: may have been answered in this thread already but over 250 comments is A LOT to comb through in a hurry at work

haha, be advised if you ordered it yesterday for $349, they won't price match.
So I ordered a second one this morning for $299, and I'll return the $349 one.

Both are being delivered on Friday lol. You think they'd wan't to save some money on shipping, but whatever...

Some were getting the i5-1035G4 in that Dell, and it is a (slightly) better APU than the R5.
Win 10 S is not hard to get out of.

So, less RAM and storage, 720p, and slightly thinker/heavier are the cons to the Dell.
The RAM and storage can be upgraded to match at a similar final price of $300, but you'd be stuck with 720p and added weight.

Dell is a known company (for what that's worth).

It's a toss up if you want to risk the unknown brand for a better screen, metal chassis, and 1 pound lighter laptop. I would say that the APU differences are not noticeable.
