the old integrated intel? or the new iris plus graphics found in some 10th gen intel cpus.
The best budget laptop was that costco $280 14" that all came with i5-10th gen cpus and iris plus graphics. it was benchmarking 8000+ and in the thread there was comparisons in graphics and it blew away the vega 8
Is that deal still up?

I confirmed the 4K 60hz 4:4:4 output to my LG 24ud58 monitor via the HDMI port so HDMI on this is 2.0. The usb c port is sadly only data transfer, with no power delivery charge or Displayport function, as has been noted by others.

There are two slots for M2 ssd. One is occupied by an M2 sata. The other one is open.

The lenovo is cheaper and also have dual channel memory set up so your vega graphic will run a lot faster but significantly heavier. some people like 15 inch and more space. other like the smaller 14 inch more portable format.

Piece of cake, just remove the 6 philips screws on the bottom plate. and you will have easy access.

Yes, two stages of backlit intensity

The price is cheap for the CPU and hardware.
Can you please confirm if its 2500u or 3500u?
Thanks

I got the HP from Costco that's has the i5 in it for my son. Outside of the memory and storage would this Motile be better graphics and speed wise for say Fortnite? I assume this is lighter as well
If you got i5-1035G4, performance should be comparable if not faster than Vega. The HP14is running lower resolution so it'll be faster but not a good gaming experience.

You want at least 1080p for gaming in Fortnite. So the HP prob won't work well.

Is this the one you talking about?

Several people said that they actually has one that comes with i5-10th gen instead of i3 (a very significant upgrade). there are two ram slots so you can add more ram with more flexibility. only 1 ssd m2 nvme slot. also the HDMI is only 1.4 (compared to motile with hdmi 2.0. Both motile and this hp only have data only usb c). hp slightly heavier but maybe slightly more solid?

I too have that sick Asus ZenBook UX360 model, which I got it from Microsoft for $500 + tax. It failed in a year and had to sent it to Asus where they replaced pretty much everything. After about a year, it failed again! Bummer. There are few users having similar issues with the Asus ZenBook and I am glad it's still working for you.

So, when you compare this Motile to Asus ZenBook, what are your impressions? Is it built better than the Asus? I don't care about the looks much but the pictures look wonderful. I need it to last at least 3 - 4 years.
My UX360CA has also been faulty. It has always had loose screws. After about a year, the keyboard started malfunctioning and I had it repaired under warranty. The hinge failed a few months ago. So now I have it set up as a headless Windows server, and I use it over RDP. I don't know if the Motile is built better, but it's built pretty well and doesn't flex as the UX360CA does.

I got Walmart HP14 i3 (came with i5) a little too heavy for my use-case, thinking of doing this one. Ubuntu installs/dual boots great.

Anyone install Ubuntu/Linux on this? That's my dealbreaker

Okay so I did a quick test of Kubuntu on the R3. Everything seems to be working.

Wifi, Bluetooth, Audio, FHD resolution, LCD Backlight brightness, Trackpad, Keyboard + backlit keys, Power management

Didn't test 3.5mm audio jack, Ethernet port or micro SD card reader. But I'm sure those things will work too.

Unfortunately CloudReady Chrome OS did not boot.
Ubuntu works for me. Other Linuxen probably have driver problems; I hope these get ironed out in time.

Who actually has this laptop in person? Does it feel cheap? Is it snappy?
Cheap and snappy is my idea of a good time.

... in all seriousness, though, what are we comparing with? It's cheap and snappy compared to my mid-2014 MBP, but still pretty well built.

You need to wait for Zen2 or Zen2+ for good gaming.
Maybe the i5-G7 variant would be better at FPS for FortNite, but that is YMMV for the Walmart Dell "i3" deal. People are reporting i5-G4 and one report of i5-G7, but probably more as most people don't know G7 difference from a 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engine.
