Stopped working at least one year ago. Now I spend mine on movies.

Sadly, they can't be applied to digital games anymore:

Bullet point three, last sentence.

$42 isn't much of a deal. This game has been out for awhile now and the codes can be had at cheaper sites by doing a search. I bought my cart version last year for $35.
Please do tell.

I bought a physical copy for $50 from Amazon directly during the holidays. Am considering buying the digital copy and returning the physical copy (have no desire to resell, and digital minimizes swapping carts etc), but I opened the copy already.

It's still under eligible return period, anyone know how amazon handles opened video game software returns? It's a bit ambiguous saying a restocking fee up to 100% may be charged. I could take 20% and break even, but anymore might not be worthwhile...

Nopes! Will buy physical so that I can resell and get some of my money back. Digital should go for half the price for me to consider paying for it
I just learned today about Wii Ware.
They shut that down, so if you had bought digital games and didn't know, you were SOL?

I'll stick with physical.

Yes and no.

Depends on the game for me. If its a classic like mario kart and games that doesnt really have an end, like fighting games and racing VS limited RPG games like zelda which have an ending.

Zelda/pokemons= resell physical
Mario kart/super smash = digital, i hate swapping cartridge.

Agreed about physical vs digital purely for resale. And all that considered, you can regularly find the physical copy new for $35-40 on eBay.

One benefit of buying from Amazon or another 3rd party is you should get gold coins based on the MSRP. If you bought it directly from Nintendo, they give you the amount based on the sale price. That's how it has been in the past at least.
What's the dollar value of the additional gold coins you'd get buying from a third party? $1 on a future purchase? You'd save more money on this purchase buying from the Nintendo eShop using a tax-free zip code, right?

Sometimes gold coins can be used to unlock a sale price, rather than as eShop credit, but I only see that's for 3DS or Wii games, not Switch.

How do you go about the tax free Zip?
