Stocking up for Corona virus

940 257 March 1, 2020 at 10:57 AM in Chat
Hey guys,

Is anyone stocking up on "survival items" in fear of the Corona virus? So far I haven't, but I see a lot of the supermarkets empty from people like that here. Are the fears warranted, should I do the same?

Isopropyl alcohol and Walmart. Went in to fill a prescription today and asked them when was the last time they had a delivery of isopropyl alcohol and they said not since they had the initial run on the shelves.

Isn't Walmart one of the biggest retailers of this?

Is it all being diverted to hospitals at this point? Just wondering where it is going.

supply chain catching up but I wouldn't be surprised if stock were prioritized to healthcare

If you live around a Gordons Food service (for restaurants) location (out near MI..WI, IL, MO, OH, PA,KY,TN,NY and even FL) you can get things there with no membership. They had paper towels! lol

My pot stash is dwindling. So glad our governor said our dispensaries are essential.

Have we tested pot for curing COVID-19?
Can we ask Dr. Fauci?

I wish our governor here (PA) would actually make it so we can grow our farking own already. But if they did that then the only money they'd see is from the initial purchase of the seeds or whatever and no tax dollars from the insane pricing I've seen these dispensaries have.Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Speaking of eggs though, a regional grocery chain here (Redner's Warehouse Market) had a sign up stating that 'due to supply issues, blah blah blah' the .99¢ egg sale for this week was changed to 2/$5. OMG And I thought $1.39-1.79 during their normal 'sales' were bad prices. Glad I still have a couple dozen from before people went all El Hoardo ™ on the things and don't really care to make or eat them all that much. No farking way are they worth $2.50 a dozen to me.

You can get 1 gram for $5 here but it's crap. For about $10 you can get a good gram. What is outrageous is the CBD infused lemonade I love costing $6 a bottle... on a good day.

Some nobel laureate thinks it's possible the virus is slowing down and things will return to normal soon. I'm not so sure. The hospitals are singing a very different tune.

Had reports on nextdoor of car egging last nite in several neighborhoods. Check your fridge and ask your delinquent out of school teens.

Unless you're spraying the whole shower with isopropyl or something aftewrards isn't that getting feces and the accompanying very dangerous bacteria all over the shower? At the very least on the floor of the shower? Whether you sit or stand in the shower this seems like a very bad idea.
I a m using a faucet on a walk in tub. The fauct head is mounted probably at like 3' high, so it's plenty high enough. A shower head would get water everywhere, but using a faucet no. Not worried about getting disentary from myself LOL. If it were going to happen it would have happened long ago. I've been doing this for quite some time.

1000 H1N1 deaths in the US before any alarms were set off. I wonder why that was?
Because a normal flu season something like 56,000 - 80,000 people die from the flu:

Well between the measures we have taken and the tendency of pathogens to decrease in severity over time/as they spread [ricochet.com] (meaning they become less deadly/intense)..... I wish it would start acting like spring here!

glad I got a box of 20 N95 masks nearly two years ago during those awful NW wildfires. Elastic still good, sometimes straps rot after awhile. Gave most away but saving a few if this drags out, which is likely a few months. I'm not taking any chances, wore PPE to Safeway 2wks ago and people kept their distance. Always went 10day or more without restocking, now stretching that to 2-3wk with canned goods and frozen goods. I went with Dr Fauci's advice, "if you think you are over-reacting, you are doing the right thing."
