What's new with you since Covid 19?

Just wondering what (besides the obvious) how everyone's been impacted. Work has all but halted for me, other than some online reselling that I do. Also, my stepdaughter will be moving in within a few weeks, since she's being laid off. It will actually give her a chance to make a career change and save for a house. We are planning a bigger garden, too.

So, what's new with you?

Unintended consequences of spending more time at home and doing more housework than usual.

Turns out that when all of my dishes are clean at the same time I don't have enough cabinet space for them all.

So i went into Winn dixie tonight before closing.Not many people there, but this twenty something woman yapping on he phone not caring how close she was to others seemed to always be in my way. I think she got off on it, scaring the geezers.I wonder if she realizes in 2 months she will likely maybe unemployed, and broke while us olders will likely be doing better? All I can say is kids like that should enjoy their reality now, this next year is gonna be pretty fricken bad if u can't pay your rent this summer.

I'm kinda shocked that so many businesses and people don't have any money after less than a month when the vast majority have been out of work/customers for about 2 weeks. Confused

everyone is burning through cash.

the country is interdependent

first the lower class living paycheck to paycheck can't pay their bills, nor can they splurge on occasional luxuries.
that trickles up into middle class small business owners.

it's a nasty domino effect which is unsustainable because americans have the least amount of savings.

I feel like most everyone has this underlying sense of mild panic hovering beneath the surface. In the days before the stay home mandates, I went to a couple of stores and you could just feel the tension in the air. We get that when people are prepping for a hurricane.

I drive a haul truck in an iron ore mine, so no work from home option. The positive is that I am alone in the truck for 12 hours with the only direct exposure to others at the beginning and end of the shift. The negative is that I am stuck in a small truck cab that somebody else just spent the previous 12 hours in.

My crew has been off for 9 days so I don't know what, if any, changes they might have made in response to the virus. We are scheduled for a regular monthly safety meeting before work tomorrow which is basically 60-70 people sitting together on benches in one room for about 30 minutes. I like to think they would be smart enough to not do that but I haven't received any word to not arrive early for it.

We also have a daily meeting before every shift in the same setting but for only about 5 minutes. There was talk about staggering our start times so not everyone arrives at once but again they haven't contacted us with any changes. We are due back tomorrow so maybe there will be news today.

In contrast to Monday, when the shelves were completely full of eggs, so I'm glad I decided to head out again today. Gas at every station I went by was now under $2/gallon.

not much is different, I invested in a lot of SD home theater deals for being shut in. Plenty to keep me busy since I semi retired from lawn care. Never had a problem staying home and my low stress hippie life style with healthy food helps. I have a small foot print and always lived within my means. No sweat so far, all these gadgets keep me busy and grateful for what I have. I started with nothing and still have most of it.

Try to acquire some 70% isopropyl alcohol and wipe down the things you touch in the cab before your shift. Probably would be a good idea to use one of those laser thermometers on each other as you change shifts. Right now the guys you work with would probably think this is a bunch of nonsense, just ask Rand Paul, but give it 3-4 months ....
