Rather than ask you to come into our stores, any items you order on BestBuy.com or the Best Buy app will be delivered to your car curbside. If, for any reason, you didn't order the product in advance and the product is in stock in the store, one of our employees will be more than happy to go get it in the store and sell it to you while you remain in your car. This service also extends to returns and exchanges, the period for which has been extended on most products so that you have more time. Only employees will be allowed in the store, but we are determined to serve you as fully as we can. Unfortunately, we are temporarily unable to continue our product trade-in and recycling services."

Companies at this time should temporarily offer free shipping or lower the amount required for free shipping on all orders to avoid the virus from spreading faster.

That would be nice, but I can tell you several stores around me are using the situation to do the opposite: suspend all sales and all product returns. They realize why have discount sales on items when they will sell out instantly at full price? For instance, the weekly food ads in my area always had lots of deals and thick ads from several stores. Last week there were only a few thin ads and little on sale apart from produce. Sprout's didn't even put out an ad and Kroger's was just 2 pages instead of 6 or more. Several stores (including Sam's Club, Kroger and Big Lots) also suspended all product returns (unless you got something defective) indefinitely so if you make accidentally buy the wrong item, you're stuck.

Clearly some companies are stepping up (like Internet/phone providers), but some are using the situation to make more money by suspending sales and halting product returns. A crisis helps identify who's naughty and nice.

Oh my, I would how long stores will remained closed or not really opened to the public. Cuz most of the time when I see shipping fees I would go to the store and purchase there or make them order online for me. Now in this situation I feel like I'll have to order more and bring back things I originally didn't want cuz of free shipping and needing to return or exchange just honestly feels like making matters worst. Sigh just wish they could offer free shipping without a minimum~

It's like we're all being thrust back into an earlier era, like 2005 or something.

We'll get through this Wink

Just don't overbuy from anywhere with a limited return policy. Barring returns right now is the norm in most places (discourages hoarding and reduces contact points). Costco, Publix, etc have practically unlimited return policies.

Target just suspended their returns as of March 26 until April 16th but extending 3 weeks beyond that for returns.

Thanks for the news. At least Target said they would extend returns for the amount they're suspended. I did not see any similar statements from Sam's Club, Big Lots or Kroger. I hope they will do the right thing, but I've learned to keep my expectations very low (i.e. at 0).

I learned some bad things about Target a few years ago: quite often their system was programmed incorrectly and denied returns that should have been allowed. This was especially common with the "extra 30 days" from Red Card purchases on electronics and the extended holiday returns. You should have 60 days on movie returns with RC, but I and others have been denied around the 45 day mark, so we decided you can't trust the extra 30 days with RC. I've had Target.com say a movie (bought with Red Card) was returnable for 3 months from the ship date, yet when I took it in for a return near the 2 month mark it was denied. Target B&M CS almost never makes an exception or helps out telling you to call CS who is usually equally clueless and useless.

What I learned is you can never trust Target or Target.com returns to be more than 30 days from your order date in spite of Target saying otherwise. If you go past 30 days, you're risking getting stuck with it. Fortunately due to lack of sales recently, I only have 1 item I want to return. I'm expect they'll deny it in spite of their pledge to extend. It's a movie I wanted, but I bought the wrong edition. We'll see what happens, but I expect to get stuck with it.

Target does this ALL the time, I always argue for my extra 30 day using my Red Card, employees tell me I never heard of this.

Have to show them the app (T&C), call a manager over, they make an "exception" or other times take my license.

1/2 the time I just take it to Walmart and they'll take it no receipt.

1/2 the time at Walmart is better than my Walmart which usually refuses saying the store/regional manager has chosen their own more restrictive policy. Target is usually the same way. Returning anything from the electronics dept even if it's still sealed w/o receipt is an extreme YMMV. It has been years since I've been able to do it.

I've avoided the extra 30 days issue with Target by learning I can't count on them to know about or honor the extra 30 days, so I just pretend it doesn't exist and everything is a 30 day return policy. Back when I had those extra 30 days problems, most of the time they refused to make an exception and didn't offer to do it without receipt (which is why you give your license) which consumes a portion of your small yearly limit.

The point is you can't trust Target's return policies or that they will take anything back after what's printed on the receipt. It's not a big deal for me since I rarely buy much from them any more. Their B&M stores have few movies nowadays (1 small aisle), the rest of their electronics can be found cheaper at other stores online, and when they do have a B2G1F sale on movies or games online, practically everything I want is always OOS.
