Looks really good deal tbh. Its MSRP is $2799
The only limiting thing is 16GB RAM but for most, this is sufficient
If you are into video editing, 8GB Graphics card is better than 4GB graphics card that comes in this particular model. Just a heads up!
Disclaimer: I'm not a Windows fanboy nor a Mac fanboy (I use both).
Question: for those saying the "Apple tax" is high or "I can't believe how expensive this machine is!", please show me a comparable 15.4"/16" 16:10 aspect ratio laptop with an 8-core i9, 16GB of RAM, 1TB SSD, 4GB discreet GPU, and in as a lightweight form factor as you'll find at this size, brand new with warranty for less (or even the SAME price), please show me. I'm shopping for a new laptop and would love to find something with these specs for less. The unreleased 2020 Dell XPS 15 MiGHT be that machine but I don't think it'll come in under $2300.
If you aren't in a hurry, then yes sure. If you have to have one now, this is good deal imho.
But, dont go for this one and instead have i7 with upgraded GPU if you are into Video Editing. 4GB GPU will hog the system. Checkout YouTube videos regarding this

Is this a good deal? Looking for a new macbook. Originally wanted to stay below 1500 but would appreciate the bigger screen. Debated getting new air but seemd a fair bit smaller.

It is a good deal, about $500 off. For what are you going to be using your MacBook? If it is basic use like browsing and light office work, the Air or 13" Pro will be plenty and you could get a nice monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speaker set up for when you need more screen real estate for less than this. For more intense work that can use the extra CPU and GPU of the 16", this is a great option.

There was a rumor for a 14 inch screen too, to replace the 13.3, with updated keyboard. I'm inclined towards that. 16 is big for a traveling laptop I feel. Thoughts?

The new keyboard alone makes it a good deal for me. I have a 2019 Macbook Air and this keyboard is terrible. I just ordered one of these.
for laptop procs, 10th gen intel is vastly better than 9th gen.
16gb isn't enough for this price

Everyone I have spoken with says the 16" is fine once you become accustomed to the size. I looked at one at Best Buy and it wasn't as large as I thought it would be. I having been using a 13" Macbook Air (2019) and I travel extensively. I am moving to the 16" Macbook Pro because I need more screen real estate for my work (and I am done with this crummy keyboard).
