I do not believe I have seen anyone else post this so I thought I would share what I stumbled into this morning.

I can not attest to the quality of this tool set and I have also read that it is not completely compatible with the entire Craftsman Versastack line; something about certain boxes in the lineup can not go on-top of it without modification. Other than that it does have a decent lineup of sockets; not perfect but good.

If you have bought into the Versastack ecosystem already then this is a great opportunity to add another piece to your collection. I am aware (since I have been trying to monitor it) that it was this price back around Black Friday but I don't believe I have seen it hit this price since then, I am not willing to bet even a penny on that statement though Smilie

Here is a link to a review (no affiliation to me) that has good pictures of the set https://homefixated.com/craftsman...et-review/

You may be able to add a 10 off $50 or $20 off $100 coupon with a filler if those are still around. Making the price $89.99 or $80.00 (approx).

Happy shopping!

PS. long time lurker first time poster; thanks everyone for posting a ton of great deals.

In Illinois, my local had 23 in stock at $99. So have this set and dislike the box and drawers. Sockets just sit drawers, do not lock into anything. Dropped or bumped, you'll like find the sockets loose all over the drawers.
I just arrived home with this set and I can confirm that the 1/4" and 3/8" are all 6 pt and the 1/2" is 12 point.

First observations:

-/+ Lighter than I thought it would be

+ All the drawers are completely removable, makes things easier.

+ The 3/8" set is quite nice when you factor in all the sockets in the 1/4".

+ 1/2" socket wrench has nice feel to it even though compared to old school socket wrenches this ones is on the light side.

- The 3/8" to 1/4" socket adapter I took a double take on... almost felt like it was plastic (super light); still not 100% convinced it isn't. None of the other pieces feel like that though.

- - - - Zero organization for the wrenches they basically just have some open space to throw them in; that I was quite disappointed in; I thought for sure there would be some little trick for them. I think they are going to find a new home and i'll put their current home to use with some random sockets and flexible extensions that I have.

Basically the set is just okay if you didn't have anything before and gets bumped up quite a few notches if you are already invested in the Versastack system; which I am. I am actually a Versastack and Tstak person now. The deep drawers from Tstak really add a lot to the Versastack system's versatility, also the Tstak dolly is a nice thing to bring into the mix as well.

Overall I like the mobile tool storage system that all the companies are doing; it is easy to break up into manageable pieces to take to various locations and that was a big reason I picked up this set; it combines well into it the package (obviously). I was tempted to go another route but it does look good together.

Would I go all in on the Versastack and Tstak systems again if I could have a reset.... the answer is more than likely no, it isn't that they are bad but there is other options. I have some mods in mind to make it a little better but if I were starting over I would switch up and go with this company that I found recently (no affiliation) https://www.auer-packaging.com/gb...s-Pro.html or win the lottery and get the high end Snap-on aviation/industrial tool sets Smilie

Best of luck with the deal hunting everyone!
No John, you already have a 300 piece chrome vanadium set in the tool box. A new one is unnecessary.

The thing with the tstaks is they're so cheap...i had festool and fes cases but at the price i wouldn't bang them around and didn't seem to smart to pay for a case 2- 4 times what some stuff i store in them would cost (glue guns, heat guns, biscuit jointers, multitool, etc) sold my stack of systainers and for the price i got for them i now have a *wall* of tstaks now, high tools low tools i store them all there. i gotta be in the 30-40 count i've built ply storage racks and carts for. Plus i can get them quickly and easily 17.99 for smalls when on deals on amazon, etc can't beat that and i don't care too much slinging it around. 18 bucks for a tote..
can get 2,3,4 to 1 of the other brand

But yeah have a couple maxi's i kept for the planex and i put my router stuff in one, nice and sturdy (like those in your link) no ribs everywhere inside tons nicer than dewalts but i'm not banging those around.

I passed on this set a couple times though. tempting to have handy but yeah read the same things you mentioned about the wrenches, etc.sockets banging around. Not bad at this price though if you need a grab and go to stack with no thinking to bang around, still i'm passing.

You could get 2 2 drawer units, foam, remove dividers and setup a good system with socket brand of choice i like the gearwrench tear drops and ratcheting wrenches are a must for me unless i'm hammering on it.

I wanted to pick up a tool set for the longest, is this a better deal than past deals from SD? This would be a first full tool set as well

I'm trying to talk myself out of this. I have an old Craftsman clam shell set that I've had about 15 or so years. One of the clasps finally broke. I have a tool chest full of tools and my old clam shell set, but do I need or want this. lol

Tools don't go bad. Those "old" ones might still be US made. Time to organize, not replace.

Had a recent experience with the Craftsman warranty at Sears. I was checking out at the person in front of me was returning a broken Craftsman tool for replacement. The cashier refused to honor the replacement warranty without a receipt. I was shocked to observe this as I bought my Craftsman tools from Sears decades ago and certainly do not have any receipts as you never needed them before. I see that under the Craftsman website no proof of purchase is required but Sears absolutely would not allow the return of the item without a receipt. Does anyone know how Lowes handles this.
