That's cool and all, but why?
I was half joking. BUT the 66i is an absolute unit, marrying InReach SOS/messaging capabilities with the better Garmin (not Delorme) maps. I got last year at Dick's and turn on/off the InReach $15/mo service.
Pricy but I'm glad such a solution exists. Sure wish for that kind of money you could surf the web via the satellite connection.

If SpaceX succeeds with starlink you may be able to sooner rather than later
The SpaceX starlink antennas are still going to be the size of a pizza box so I'm not possible with a handheld unit. But it will be a game-changer for off-road vehicles and sailboats and just people out in the middle of nowhere that can carry around a big antenna

First gen are going to be that large, but remember first gen sattelite dishes that were over 10 ft in diameter? Now we have satellite dishes that are a foot or so in diameter that can receive up to 5 different satellites at once. Gps was the same way (and for high precision gps the recievers are still about a foot or so in diameter ... Ones that are used for survey and high precision work). I have a feeling the antennas won't be that large once the technology matures
Would someone be willing to tell me if the 35 touch is better or worse than the 30x?
It is a slightly different form factor and some of the accessories are not available like are available for the 30x. Its basically the touch vs button version of the 30x.
