10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

I asked him about the router, he can't remember, it was abou 8 mo ago - but he told me it wasn't the pwd + user fron sticker
Did he change his modem? When I first signed up with ATT, they gave me a modem which stopped working after a few months. Then ATT sent me another one which had a different password displayed. However, the password from my old router was what worked. Thankfully, I had noted down my password from my old modem before I sent it back to ATT. If your friend had replaced his modem just as in my case, he should use the old modem's password.

I have att internet 1000 but it says I am not eligible for hbo max when logging in and selecting att as my provider.
Two ways that I know will work:
1. Login to your ATT account and check out the benefits section and follow the link provided to activate (good for streaming using your computer)
2. On your smart TV download the HBO-Max app and activate it using your ATT account.

Unfortunately the app on Roku doesn't support.

Not sure if it was mentioned anywhere here, but use t.o.p cash b.a.c.k to get $85 back when you sign up for just ATT Internet. With ATT Internet + TV, you get $170 back. This combined with the SAVEMORE coupon worth $100 + other ATT offers makes this deal even sweeter.
I got only $75 for my AT&T fiber 1000 signed up in April and the cashback was approved

how did u find out the area you're moving into has att fiber? ive called them and asked what area's around my neighbor has fiber but they cant do a search like that..
They have an availability page on their site. Google ATT fiber availability. You put in street address.

Also one thing to note, if you qualify for AT&T uverse service of any kind, there's a good chance there is also an AT&T uverse reseller in your area.
How do I find a reseller?

You are required to use the modem they provide and pay $10/month for it through AT&T. You cannot provide your own modem, even if it is another AT&T branded UVerse modem.
I've seen a lot of posts about the $10 fee, but if you are an existing customer with no current equipment charge, there is a chance you may be able to avoid the fee getting added. No clue how I did it, but I pay $49.99 and that's it. No taxes (IL) and no equipment fee. Very YMMV but it can be done.

I just got fiber 1000 on June 1st and see $10 equipment fee but I will try to get it removed tomorrow. Wish me luck~ 😊

How are you going to try to get it removed? Calling them? Let us know how it goes because I would also like to try to get it removed though I'm think it may be hard.

Here is the reseller I use: https://www.oplink.net/internet-service.html

I mistakenly said earlier that they have no contracts. This reseller does have a contract; however they different from AT&T in the following ways:
  • No data caps, even on the lower tier plans
  • No modem rental fees
  • No hard pull on your credit when you sign up. No credit pull at all, actually.

Anyone who got in on this in Austin, or elsewhere in Texas? What kind of taxes and fees (besides the silly $10 router fee) are you seeing on your bill?

I got upgraded to this offer from my $50/mo 300mbps plan. I did it over chat and explicitly made sure there would be no additional fees such as router/modem so I have that in writing. Hopefully, I won't get charged but if I do I got a record saying I won't be charged any additional fees!

keep in mind, AT&T does do a hard inquiry on your credit and in most cases does lower your credit score. This hard inquiry stays on your file for at least 25 months.

They offered me:

Gigafiber 50M/50M ($50/month)
Gigafiber 100M/100M ($70/month)
Gigafiber 1GB/1GB ($90/month)

Doesn't seem very competitive at first glance?
