10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

I got this offer, with rewards but one thing I came to know is that they dont have 12 months contract now which means you can opt out immediately if you want. The actual charge is going to be 50+10 but with HBO Max its a good deal.

I switched from AT&T to our electric company's fiber service. I rarely could get over 200Mb, and randomly would get 5 - 15 second outages. After about 4 months of techs coming to the house, I was finally able to switch without any fees for breaking my contract. Now I get true 1Gb speeds and the only outages were planned ones in the middle of the night, and those only lasted about 10 minutes.

I had been paying $40/month on a promotion for 300mbps and upgraded to gig and they found a promotion in the system that is going to take $720 off my DirecTV bill for the next year. This is essentially making the gig internet service and HBO max free since I was on a contract to pay the DirecTV bill anyway. I was also grandfathered in, so no $10/month gateway fee is being charged.

So I am an existing customer...I currently do not have have any discounts and pay $100 a month for 1 gig with hbo max. I called and asked to talk to retention, told them I was going to go to spectrum, still they wouldn't give me this deal or any discounts. Any tips or suggestions on how to get this discount?
Call again and most likely you'll speak with someone else who may be more helpful.

Do you all use their gateway only? Is a router needed for 3500sqft house? I see their gateway model is ARRIS BGW210. If I want to connect one of my own routers to it, which port of the gateway should be used? Thanks in advance.

It's interesting that by looking at map provided they do offer fiber in my area , but when you try residential home address it's 50 down.

However if I change it to business and choose my address it offers fiber ..I left att for Comcast few years back because I needed internet for a 3 floor home and 50 down just wouldn't cut it.

note: I did call in and and told them exactly that and the lady wanted me to apply so she can run it by her manager that when I choose business as address it says there's fiber .I asked what if you can't guarantee it , she stated she wouldn't submit application.

Cancel and switch between you and someone who lives with you every year ? If possible.

steps 1 call and cancel and hangup
step 2 have family member call and request service as a new customer.

I called and couldn't get my bill down to $50, but they did it from $90 to $80 permanently. Should I call again?

Call to schedule a future cancellation, then go into the ATT store and use someone else's name to schedule a starting date right after the cancellation, so you will receive the equipment before they stop the old service, you won't have any black-out day at all. That's how we have been doing for the past three years. For some reason, we don't even see the $10 modem/gateway fee, only $49.00 and that's all. But we only got $100 rebate, not like someone else getting more. FYI, I have been using Samsung mesh network at home(total 2000+sqft), and pretty much no dead spot at all, which was on sale for $100 for three, back in two years ago.

I'm an existing customer and had no problem dropping the price to the $50. I used the online chat. They first said it would no longer be unlimited so I said no thanks, please cancel. 2 minutes later I was set.

Is that JUST the internet or did you bundle?
LOL I pay $60 for 25gb ATT... I wish fiber was available here, but they don't even offer faster than 25gb. The downstairs units all have the option though - so I wonder if it's just a matter of time.

It's ridiculous that they make you go through these hoops instead of treating existing customers well.

I also have a BGW210 modem and gateway. Here's their page to optimize it:

My house isn't as big as yours, but I have Wi-Fi coverage with full or most bars throughout my 2-story home and throughout my property as well, although it'll drop to 1 bar when 40' away from the house.

It all really depends on the competition in your area. We have Brighthouse/Spectrum and ATT fiber. So Brighthouse/Spectrum is $44 for 100mpbs or $65 for 400mps

ATT really has to compete so I'm fine paying $70/month no rental fee, no taxes for 1gbs service.
