This is the newly released DLX with the PID with no WiFi in Stainless lid only. Amazon has it for regular price of $550 which is what's on Camp Chefs Site.

I love my Camp Chef, really easy and fantastic features, seems well made, I've been very happy with the ease of use and results.
HOWEVER, Masterbuilt is now making gravity-fed charcoal grills. They work like pellet grills, but with charcoal, which is far superior for smoking. It also gets up to 700 deg pretty quick if you want to sear. The camp chef takes awhile to get to 500 and you'll absolutely eat through pellets doing so.
The downside to the Masterbuilt is the brand. I don't consider them to be really reliable and well built like camp chef but if I were buying an all-in-one grill/smoker, I'd probably go for the charcoal one today.

Overall, been happy with results and it does a good job for a less expensive grill.
Would it work as a normal grill when I do not have the time to smoke some meats?

It does say it's a pellet grill so I'd imagine so.

I have one from a few years ago and it won't get above 400. You can cook hotdogs and burgers but I will take longer than a traditional grill. best cookbook to help with the transition: https://www.amazon.com/Complete-W...0757003370

I have a pitboss pellet grill/smoker. You can use it as a grill but it does not get as hot as my propane grill does. Also more maintenance. But I love the flavor you get

That slide grate is supposed to allow more direct heat from the burning pellets to create more of a "sear" on the SG model. I'm not convinced of its efficacy so I wanted to save a few bucks... I have a propane grill for searing if I want to do that better...
