These don't require abuse to break.
They are flawed from the factory.
The carry handles on the side are a true flaw in design. They are not reliable, and can snap off without exceeding the weight limit. I have 7 boxes of varying sizes and 3 have broken handles. Dewalt will not replace them. The top handle is the only useful handle.
I only bought these because of the clearance deals that popped up here a year or two ago and would return the whole set immediately if I had paid full price.
It is a good deal, but those complaints are legitimate for this product.
Eventually they will come out with the 2.0 version that looked like a copy of Milwaukee designs.

Side note, the yellow "locks" on the side to tether boxes together are a joke. They are tiny and hard to manipulate with human fingers...not sure who approved that design, but it could have been better.

This is a pretty good deal. People complain about the durability of these, but if you're abusing your toolbox, it'll break haha.
I have one set already and I can't say I've abused them but I've lifted and carried them in and out of the truck with the side handles completely full of tools and not had an issue. That being said the side handles do make me more nervous when its plumb full or has the other two cases full stacked on top of it. The top handle on the other hand feels rock solid along with the wheels and handle of the operational one.

Although not a daily user, I have been using these for a couple years with no issue.

I have two wall rack mounts (DWST08260 for $66.41 each), 2 XL cases (DS400 at 24.40 each), 3 8-Compartment Small Parts Organizer (DS150 for $18.53 each) and 3 totes (DWST08205 for $15.07 each). I curated my selection individually when they went on sale at Home Depot or Amazon.

If you are not in rush, then there will definitely be better pricing/sales especially if you need to buy single items. If you do want something sooner, then these are decent prices and great cases!

The only gripe I have against these is I wish they had drawers instead of lift tops. It sucks unloading everything to get to stuff in the bottom box.

there is a 2-drawer model which comes up on deals periodically. It's actually very nice.

Yes, this is a BF deal, plus the extra tape measure. Actually I have one of the small DeWalt 9' tapes and it;s IDEAL for a lot of uses. Like going into a Home Depot to get trim wood or measure an appliance. Often you don't need a 25' 2-lb measure dragging down your pants as happens to me sometimes. It's a cheap basic 9' measure but it's worth at least a few $ so a nice bonus in any case.

I already have one of these stacking sets from a BF deal a few years ago, and it's been fine. But what you really want is the metal rolling carrier cart where rails support each box separately rather than stacking on top of the bottom box. . But that cart alone goes for more than this deal, with no boxes.

This deal is a light-dury cart system but definitely worth it for the price if you need something like that. If you are rolling on a smooth floor and are willing to lift up boxes to get to other boxes, this would be fine.

Interesting... which boxes broke on you? I've got a few and want to know which ones are likely to fail

I know it's a failure of Dewalt to not replace the handle (would you want to replace the broken one with another faulty handle?) But can you fabricate a metal side handle or did it break at the box where the handle mounts to?

I'll have to go to the store and play with the yellow side locks to see what you're saying to see if it will be worth the frustration as you noted seeing as I, too, have human fingers.

I'm thinking milwaukee has a lifetime warranty on their boxes. Not sure what it covers and I have used neither system as I'm just a homeowner not in the trades.

The open totes with a organizer on top is my favorite set up. I have one set up for nail guns. One set up for plumbing supplies. Easy to grab the whole thing and go.

These seem to kind of average tool boxes- though I've never broken any of this line but those who lead them down seem to.

However, they are fantastic as range boxes and cases (I've dumped my range bags for these).

There are a few pick and pluck foam kits for the "briefcase" configured cases and having all the bases clip together with the rolling base makes them a one trip system.

I had boughten both the Dewalt ToughSystem and Milwaukee Packout. I returned Dewalt & kept Milwaukee. Better durability, design, capacity, & interchangeability, which all comes at a higher price, but I think it is justified. (And I hated the latches and also the locks on the Dewalt)...but that 2 drawer model mentioned earlier was really nice.
