Hi all,

I didn't see this posted so I thought I would share this for those who just want the tool or battery kit only. Hope this helps out those who need battery kit or tool without having to cheat the system. I posted screenshot of price breakdown for M18 FUEL Surge Impact. Also 5% cashback if you have Discover IT credit card. Enjoy!

1. Add 5.0 and 2.0 battery kit to cart:

$107.61 - $120.73 - 312457066 - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa.../312457066

2. Add one of the following tools:

$74.47 - 202043806 - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-18-Volt-2-Gal-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Wet-Dry-Vacuum-Tool-Only-0880-20/202043806 [homedepot.com]

$85.20 - 305059499 - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-FUEL-18-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Brushless-Cordless-1-2-in-Hammer-Drill-Driver-Tool-Only-2804-20/305059499 [homedepot.com]

$85.20 - 300193508 - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa...08%7D%3Aqu NLA

$78.27 - 204463218 - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa...18%7D%3Aqu NLA

$91.39 - 206463133 - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-18-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-3000-Lumen-ROVER-LED-AC-DC-Flood-Light-Tool-Only-2360-20/206463133 [homedepot.com]

$85.20 - 206395174 - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa...74%7D%3Aqu

3. Make one item for store pickup/ship to store and other item for ship to home.
4. Place order. Go to your purchases and cancel item that you don't need. You don't have to cancel if you're worried your order will get canceled. You can always return other item you don't want for refund later. EDIT: Looks like they don't allow to cancel individual items anymore. You can return item you don't want later I guess.

EDIT 2:

Also works for 8.0 and 6.0 battery kit! Thanks for the info CHUNKYLEMONMILK. (Sorry don't know if I can tag other users).

EDIT 3:

It seems you can cancel the item you don't want when making battery kit ship to home and the free tool for in store pickup where available. Thanks for the tip MajkMatt!

Milwaukee tools are in the top-tier when it comes to power tools (which I would also include DeWalt in that tier), but you will usually be paying a premium (setting aside this sale for a moment) for premium performance. If you are a DIY-er and are on a budget, then you might consider Ridgid or Ryobi (both actually made by the same manufacturer). I would probably steer clear of Porter Cable just because I don't know what will happen with them. They are owned by Stanley Black and Decker and they recently purchased Craftsman from Sears (and you may have noticed Craftsman tools at Lowes now) and Craftsman has been marketed as a mid-tier tool for them (with DeWalt being their top-tier and Black and Decker as their lowest tier in a good-better-best setup where PC used to be their mid-tier). Anyway, you won't likely be disappointed with a Milwaukee tool... just maybe a little lighter in your wallet as you expand your collection.
You don't need to return the free item. Just order one for store pickup and one for delivery and cancel the one you don't want after the order goes through.
Since we're being honest, how much of the stuff we buy on SD do we actually NEED lol.

Great post OP! Looks like the same can be done with the larger starter kit with 8.0 and 6.0ah batteries.

This looks like something new that I haven't seen on website before. Usually they have the promotional price (in this case $199) for bundles as one item and not separate items. Each item is prorated so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to return it.

Haven't seen it for milwaukee tools but this is same process for Ridgid and Ryobi that has happened many times before.

I tried that after posting this and it didn't allow me to. If you try to cancel one it will ask to cancel both. Will have to try returning one of the items in store for prorated amount.

I was able to make it work... You need to have "store pickup" for the item that you want and then "ship to home" for the one you don't (as it seems like you cannot cancel "store pickup" items online, but you can use that to your advantage here).

Another way is to have them "store pickup" for both items, but have each item to be picked up at different stores... then only pick up the one you want (and then call HD to have the other one cancelled afterward).

It looks like in order for this to work, you will need to ship battery kit to home and tool must be available for in store pickup.

I just realized this too as I tried it with another order. Thanks for the tip!

So you're getting the tool completely free or are you paying a discounted amount?

Discounted amount. When you add them to the cart you can see the discounted price.

For example the vacuum is $75 and the batteries would be $125
