Milwaukee tools are in the top-tier when it comes to power tools (which I would also include DeWalt in that tier), but you will usually be paying a premium (setting aside this sale for a moment) for premium performance. If you are a DIY-er and are on a budget, then you might consider Ridgid or Ryobi (both actually made by the same manufacturer). I would probably steer clear of Porter Cable just because I don't know what will happen with them. They are owned by Stanley Black and Decker and they recently purchased Craftsman from Sears (and you may have noticed Craftsman tools at Lowes now) and Craftsman has been marketed as a mid-tier tool for them (with DeWalt being their top-tier and Black and Decker as their lowest tier in a good-better-best setup where PC used to be their mid-tier). Anyway, you won't likely be disappointed with a Milwaukee tool... just maybe a little lighter in your wallet as you expand your collection.

You don't need to return the free item. Just order one for store pickup and one for delivery and cancel the one you don't want after the order goes through.

Great post OP! Looks like the same can be done with the larger starter kit with 8.0 and 6.0ah batteries.

This looks like something new that I haven't seen on website before. Usually they have the promotional price (in this case $199) for bundles as one item and not separate items. Each item is prorated so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to return it.

You don't need to return the free item. Just order one for store pickup and one for delivery and cancel the one you don't want after the order goes through.

Haven't seen it for milwaukee tools but this is same process for Ridgid and Ryobi that has happened many times before.

I tried that after posting this and it didn't allow me to. If you try to cancel one it will ask to cancel both. Will have to try returning one of the items in store for prorated amount.

I was able to make it work... You need to have "store pickup" for the item that you want and then "ship to home" for the one you don't (as it seems like you cannot cancel "store pickup" items online, but you can use that to your advantage here).

Another way is to have them "store pickup" for both items, but have each item to be picked up at different stores... then only pick up the one you want (and then call HD to have the other one cancelled afterward).

It looks like in order for this to work, you will need to ship battery kit to home and tool must be available for in store pickup.

I just realized this too as I tried it with another order. Thanks for the tip!

So you're getting the tool completely free or are you paying a discounted amount?

Discounted amount. When you add them to the cart you can see the discounted price.

For example the vacuum is $75 and the batteries would be $125

Need help making a decision. I recently bought the Rockwell lowes clearance multitool for $32 as I didnt have one and I am building my tool arsenal. Looking at this deal I can get m18 multitool for $77 and I already have a lot of batteries for it. Should I shell out $40 more dollars for this or not is the question. Any suggestion is appreciated. Also I dont have any Rockwell tools. So I will be stuck using and charging the tool every 20 min tops. I can return the rockwell as it is still unopened.
