How do you do that? Do you order them each, go store pick up and cancel battery shipment?
It's covered pretty well on the first page, but you have choose in store pickup for the item you want and have the other items shipped to your house. Place the order and then immediately cancel the ship to home items. The in store items remain in place.

I was driving 3" deck screws through PT lumber while replacing some 2x4 deck boards, and the M18 just drove them in without hesitation (using pilot holes to prevent splitting). I'd rather have too much power than too little. Smilie
Which m12 impact were you using? I have driven 6" deck screws into treated wood with the m12 fuel on 3 and had zero issues or struggle. Ive gotten to the point I dont even reach for my m18 stuff at all anymore unless I dont have the tool in m12.

It's not the Fuel, just the basic version. The M18 is close to 10 years old at this point, obviously not Fuel either.

Does anyone know if Milwaukee released a version 4.0 of their M18 Fuel drill to fix that collet issue (bits releasing)?
That was the impact on the Gen3. If you get the surge the collet has been fixed. They are working on a fix for the Fuel Impact.

I went for the m12 in the beginning because I like the size and I don't plan on doing any thing heavy duty. But as you said there's been a few times I was driving screws into studs ( thick/large one) and it was struggling. Had to let it cool a few times. FOMO (fear of missing out) is getting to me though lol
I have the M12 Fuel driver and worked fine for repairing some decking. It did get hot so I would not recommend it for building a deck from scratch or anything intense like that but for smaller jobs it definitely has enough power.

I followed the instructions on the frontpage and did them all back to back. So I'd put a battery kit and a tool in cart, set the battery for shipping and the tool for pickup, order it, then immediately cancel the battery pack in the orders page. Rinse, repeat.

I tried that after posting this and it didn't allow me to. If you try to cancel one it will ask to cancel both. Will have to try returning one of the items in store for prorated amount.
Yeah I tried it couple times too (battery kit home, tool pickup) and it didn't allow me to. It just says if I want to cancel both. I wonder if they fixed it.

So once you get the tool do you call Home Depot customer service and cancel out the battery kit?

I was too scared to cancel before picking up the tool thinking they might cancel the whole thing. Anyway I will pickup the tool today and ask customer service tomorrow to cancel the shipment. Will save them money of shipping unnecessarily!

Milwaukee tools are in the top-tier when it comes to power tools (which I would also include DeWalt in that tier), but you will usually be paying a premium (setting aside this sale for a moment) for premium performance. If you are a DIY-er and are on a budget, then you might consider Ridgid or Ryobi (both actually made by the same manufacturer). I would probably steer clear of Porter Cable just because I don't know what will happen with them. They are owned by Stanley Black and Decker and they recently purchased Craftsman from Sears (and you may have noticed Craftsman tools at Lowes now) and Craftsman has been marketed as a mid-tier tool for them (with DeWalt being their top-tier and Black and Decker as their lowest tier in a good-better-best setup where PC used to be their mid-tier). Anyway, you won't likely be disappointed with a Milwaukee tool... just maybe a little lighter in your wallet as you expand your collection.
Not always, ridgid cordless vacuum is more powerful than Milwaukee.

I've purchased 6 tools this way and have never run into any issues on pickup. When you cancel the order online they are only able to cancel the ship to home part as you cannot cancel a pickup online. This is why you ship the battery kit and set the tool for pickup, you get the discount applied to the tool without needing to ever receive the kit.

There is a 45 minute window after placing an order where you can cancel it, after that you have to return the product as I don't think CS can do anything either.

I knew I should have hit that cancel button. I didn't know CS can't do anything either. Maybe I either have to not pick it up or pickup and return immediately.

Depends on which half of the order you wanted. If you wanted the half of the order in-store I'd say just pick it up and then return the other half at a later time.

Otherwise, if you need to cancel the store pickup you should be able to just call the store.

You can try your luck with CS, but the 45-minute rule was told to me by CS that the order is on its way to fulfillment and they can't stop it.
