Thats not correct, there are some 7 series models that are IPS panel. Recent costco booklet mentioned that its IPS panel (picture attached). Rting mentions these 7 series 4K IPS panel tv as one of best for computer monitor.

Absolutely. Microcenter has the 2018 TCL 6 series 65" for $400, or 55" for $350. They have the Vizio M7 55" for under $500. The Hisense H8F rates way higher for about the same price. All 3 of those are shockingly close in quality to the best mid price options ($900~ range) for being so much cheaper.

From what I know is the 65 inch UM is 2019 and the 55 inch UN is 2020 model.

Rtings.com and the other super reputable review sites (that measure performance with equipment instead of just giving their opinions) haven't reviewed this model yet. However, the 7100 that came before it got super disappointing scores, just like every other budget TV from LG. They're only good at making high end TV's ($1800+).

The difference between 4K and 1080p is indistinguishable for a 55" TV at a viewing distance of 10' to 11'; unless you buy a 75" TV or larger TV (according to Rtings diagram picture). Also IPS displays like the LG UN7300 have poor HDR performance but good view angles. Therefore, if your old TV was a TN display the viewing angles and increased brightness would be the most noticeable difference.
