Although the advertised timings for B-Die kits aren't as important -- it's how you can stretch them out, or push them.... I'll note that 3200CL14 has 8.75ns latency and 3600CL16 has 8.89ns latency.

What use case or workloads have people actually seen substantial improvement with this type of part (b-die)?

Short answer, mostly you won't notice. Unless you do long running productivity tasks like rendering (for faster times), memory intensive applications, etc.

Yes, it's not a price value and it's diminishing returns. But, it's fun, and you can squeeze 15-30% additional performance (ymmv depending on game or productivity task). It's really just about trying to push it as hard as you can.Smilie

B-die overclocks extremely well, and scales with voltage up to 1.5V dram voltage. Anyone who has tried OC'ing cheaper RAM realizes how little they can squeeze out of those. It's like banging your head against the wall. B die is a fun pain, like a puzzle to solve.

Only worthy for those who will overclock it. If you just want plug and play, it's cheaper and better to go for higher Cas 3600

In previous year, 3200C14 can easily reach 4000+ MHz easily in intel platform. But now G.Skill is doing very "strict" silicone picking. This means the XMP profile of their sticks has already been tweaked to the limit of the die, making end user impossible to reaching higher freq or lower cas.

If you really want a very high freq RAM, crucial/micron e die or some hynix cjr will be a more cost effective solution.

This doesn't make sense to recommend E die or CJR over B die.

Depends on where you want to spend your money. The slowest part of a computer has traditionally been I/O (storage). If you have enough RAM for your usage, money might be better spent on a faster/larger SSD, going NVMe over SATA-3, or a better video card.

It's your build, hotrod it where you'd like.

If you get this kit and model # it will be B-Die. Check the B-die finder link, and also check reviews. Smilie So, no, I'll let your vendor refund you because they will have shipped you the wrong kit if that is the case.

How does it compair to Corsairs Platinum Series? I'd have to double check which's one are samsung or not, but for Apples to Apples sake...

The $199 item I see is CMT32GX4M2C3200C16W (2x16).

I'm looking at this complete b-die list here:

That item doesn't appear to be B-Die. There are limited B-die Corsair Dominator 32GB kits, and more in 16GB kits. For 32GB, this is what is listed:
  • The non-RGB Dominator Platinum models are CMD64GX4M2C3200C16, CMD32GX4M2B3466C16, CMD64GX4M4B3466C16.
  • The RGB Dominator Platinum model is CMT64GX4M4Z3600C16.

I see two instances of Dominators used in one Google sheet, but in the Zen+ tab, and these were CMD32GX4M2C3200C14T and CMD32GX4M2B3466C16

Otherwise I found multiple non-Dominator kits in the google docs, mostly non B-die and not in the tops of the lists except for a few that were B-die. If it's B-Die, you should be good. It depends on patience and proper validation of results (no shortcuts, and use the proper stress test tools, not memtest86).

The only problem in that logic is if you go AMD, you need the low CAS leniency at relative high frequency to extract the most performance out of your CPU. Getting faster SSD does not help you get more FPS or more consistent fps. Getting a better video usually mean hundreds of dollar difference.
