Don't listen to the guy saying you need DEET, what you need is DDT, if it is legal you can be sure it isn't that effective.

MR300 vs MR450, which one is better to get, first time buying this. Need help on which is better. Thanks guys
mechanically, they're the same. The 450 has some rubber moldings that make it more durable, and probably better grip, and it also has a small indicator light that requires a coin battery. If you're going to be in an environment where the device is going to get moved, banged around, and potentially dropped, then you might you want the 450. If you're going to clip it somewhere, or just set it down, the 300 will be fine. In most cases 300 should suffice.

These are trrrraaaaaassssshhhhhh! Ignore any sponsored video that tries to pretend like these work well. I go camping and fishing a lot and tried this product and even bought the huge set with tons of butane and pads. The device itself stopped working after 2 years but I venture to say it never worked as we constantly got harassed by mosquitoes as if it didn't exist.

The only effective method against mosquito is covering your skin in a chemical that they will not land or touch. Don't trust those stupid bands around your wrist or other gimmicks people try to sell all over. Testing has been done and nothing is even close to deet and other chemicals at effectiveness.

There is a youtube channel where they test these products in a controlled environment and in the name of science this dude gets bit a lot. Nothing is effective like deet.

Amen, I also swear by Sawyer 20% picaridin.

It's decent at repelling mosquitoes but... It attracts smaller bugs like crazy!

We have a portable Thermacell unit that we use when camping, at outdoor concerts , and working or hanging out in the yard when mosquitos are a problem. They work well for us and decrease mosquito bites greatly.

I've been using these for 5 years now I don't get the hate whatsoever. I own three and they work great!

The two downsides is they are cheap and the flame will go out from time to time. They take about 20min to get hot.

But... I literally just used mine last night. They were swarming us and within 20mins there wasnt a single mosquito.

I bought the Radius unit from Costco, $55 shipped for the unit, an 18 hour cartridge and 40 hour refill. I am a mosquito magnet & my 6yo is super allergic to bites (turn into huge hives). He was so miserable that over the past few years I spent thousands for professional spraying just so we could be outside. That worked, but would wear off if we had heavy rain and is harmful to other creatures. I wanted an alternative, but only if it actually worked. We've been able to eat outside on the patio bite free since we started using this. Purchased from Costco figuring if it didn't work it would be easy to return, but so far we're very pleased with the results.

FYI - I live in San Francisco and am unable to get the refills for this gadget sent to my house due to product-based delivery restrictions. Once I used the initial one up, it's been useless to me.

I was a huge skeptic, but my wife talked me into getting one. For $20 it was worth a try. We purchased one for our backyard patio. It is generally unbearable to sit out there most evenings, but this thing allowed us to actually enjoy meals outside.

We still use bug spray with deet when doing yard work, but this thing is awesome for a bit of gardening or a meal on the patio.

These help but it's very situational. If there's a lot of air flow, then they suck. if the air is more stagnant, then it's terrific.
So would you say these would be ineffective for taking a walk since there is constant air movement?
