I think there are better options available at this price range but I'm not going to put down people that are looking at this price point because I understand that people of all incomes may not NEED a $2K laptop when they just need something to check their email and do light work on.
Next time, think first and be better
Though this model is a good value for $350, the display has a 220 nit, non-touch, TN panel. Also, the keyboard isn't backlit if that's important to you.
also unless you're an old man, backlit is really not that important as most people know where every key is and the laptops glare lights up the keyboard well enough

I agree with you! I just want some help trying to find an inexpensive laptop that would be OK. You all have scared the crap out of me on buying one. Is any laptop that people post on here worthy enough to teach with? Thank you
Hope you're just trolling. Literally everything you said is opinion based and subjective to the user.
This machine is perfectly fine for those who will be using it to surf the web , read. Emails, and light office related work. Not to mention the price point isn't exactly a slick deal it's certainly on par with if not better than what has been offered as of late.
Absolutely. New stuff is posted so frequently that it is easy to get lost in the noise of it all. I recommended another comp in a different comment. My wife is a teacher and has been using it to teach from home. It has performed exactly as needed. It is fast enough to handle browsing and video conferencing. There are more options at this price point to consider that I see other helpful users have posted links to.
Was trying to find that recommendation you made and can't find the link? Last little bit of help please? So sorry
No problem. It is about two comments down from my first comment that you responded to on the first page.

I didn't see your post until now and I had just posted the same thing!
People are never satisfied. I wonder how they were able to function the last 20 years on screens even worse than this.
I will say the similarly priced hp 14 inch from costco probably has this beat, since it had an ips 1080p and otherwise very similar. But if you want the extra screen real estate, this deal fills a niche.

Back then and until just the past few years, 720p display complaints were rampant as well. Now that 1080p has become more standard, the aggressively delusional tech nerds with absurd expectations in the sub-$600 range have moved on to more granular complaints like peak brightness, viewing angles, bezel size, refresh rates past 60hz and sRGB coverage. While those aren't specs to be ignored entirely, you get what you pay for and expectations need to be set accordingly.

I'm confused because the Walmart one lists "Operating System: Windows 10" in the specs section just like the Staples one, but then in the product description section it says S mode. I'm wondering if Staples just neglected to put that information on theirs.
