Wow. The number of douchy comments that can accumulate on these threads never ceases to amaze me. When people like you post this stuff, it just makes me feel bad for you and wonder what level of inadequacies you are trying to overcompensate for.
I think there are better options available at this price range but I'm not going to put down people that are looking at this price point because I understand that people of all incomes may not NEED a $2K laptop when they just need something to check their email and do light work on.
Next time, think first and be better
Detailed specs [lenovo.com]

Though this model is a good value for $350, the display has a 220 nit, non-touch, TN panel. Also, the keyboard isn't backlit if that's important to you.
Every year some new thing to complain about becomes a trend. First it was backlit keyboards, touch screens. Now its "nits". An excessive amount of people talking about it now like its a crucial deal breaker. Little ridiculous.

also unless you're an old man, backlit is really not that important as most people know where every key is and the laptops glare lights up the keyboard well enough

The best device to appear in that range imo was a zenbook bestbuy open box at 495 which was briefly available. Also there was an office depot 4500u deal for same but i think both are gone for now.

I'd keep your eyes peeled for an ideapad 5 300nit 4500u/8/256 for 500. Seems likely to happen if you can wait a bit, imo

Not much action in the 400-500 price range currently. Some mildly interesting stuff in the bargain bin, and the $600 lenovo flex deal is the next milestone on the price chart.

Thanks I'll take a look.

FYI, those of you who intend to install Linux on this, you may have a non working touchpad. Supposedly the touch pad isn't supported in any kernel.

I dont know why lenovo tend to use junky screens. It would seem to me that the screen is the most important aspect of a laptop computer. It doesn't have to be high end torch screen but should at least be ips. Cheap tablets even comes with ips. Either charge whatever extra or cut back on something else. The problem with tn screens is that it's very blurry.

I'm trying to make the same decision. Ultimately it will come down to how much money I really want to spend. I think value for dollar is really similar here -- the 349 deal will be a solid pc for 2-3 years and the flex specs should be viable for 5. The flex has more bells and whistles and will remain viable for almost twice as long, for almost twice the money - makes sense, similar value. You can't go wrong with either. The Flex is more fun, the cheaper option perhaps the more disciplined purchase if one is aiming to meet very specific needs.

Thank you very much for your comments on this. I went ahead and got the two in one because I think the features of writing on it and it's ability to last for up to five years most likely would be good. Worthy investment. This one seems like a really good one, but maybe time to buy something a little nicer. Us grownups work hard for the money so why not. Thank you very much for the help

Totally understand that some people are on a budget but in my experience when it comes to laptops , I wouldn't cheap out. I've bought expensive laptops as well as cheap ones for around the price you see here and in every case I got what I paid for. Ultimately came to the conclusion that it is always worth spending a couple of extra hundred dollars for a better machine. And yes, if I am spending hundreds on an item you better believe I am going to be particular and have expectations. We all have preferences, and for me a backlit keyboard is a must.

The only difference is FHD and color. Worth the money.
The low res screen has better quality image than the FHD, if you care. These low quality FHD lenovo screens are a crime, perhaps less on this than on a i7, which I had to return for that reason alone. You tilt your head even slightly and it changes color. You go outside and forget seeing anything. Go with the walmart one if on a tight budget.

Ok how about this item is a potato... You sensitive people plague this planet. You cannot even say something is ghetto cause considered racist somehow. All races live in a ghetto but hey everything is not allowed to be said or i get caned.... This is a weak item and only good for people that have no clue what is what and what they want so blind buy... Say anything negative on a item oh boy social police incoming. You offended me but i am on the wrong side of fight train... He was right it is a bad deal but if you do not have much money might like but so overpriced.

I would respond in an intellectual and respectful way but honestly, the poor grammar and sporadic thinking put forth in your post convinces me that it would be a waste of my time. That being said, have a great day, Mr potato head

Backlit is a must for me as well, but you wouldn't believe how many people could care less.. and typically, if you're looking for a $350 laptop, then your budget probably isn't going to swing up by hundreds of dollars. A lot of those comments comes from dwellers who don't have to give their mothers rent money.. if you know what I mean.

I for one do appreciate the douchy comments. Why? I'm not an expert and it is informative for me to know the screen is TN and/or low bright the screen is. Continue please. "I" need to know the good and the bad, not matter how minor that detail is.

Relevant information can be conveyed without being a douche and calling this a "poor man's lappie".

LOL...stop unjustifying the cost of a $350 computer. For some people, $350 is the max budget. Some people do not want to spend that much because they already know their 1st grader is gonna trash it anyways. Some people simply cannot afford a $500 for a computer. Some people just want a computer they can search the net with. The only deal that has come up recently that beats this is the that $350 one at Costco. The only difference is that it is an IPS screen and 14 inches, but guess what, it is sold out. You can't buy something that is not available. So yes, be critical, but do not go on say it is trash.

Not really sure what people are complaining about here especially during covid time. This computer for this price range has everything that cover 90% or more of what people do.

It's on par with what most company laptops have including the following important things :
-8gb ram
-250gb of ssd
-10th Gen fast 2 core i3 cpu
-1080p display.

Yeah you can always demand more but this type of spec easily works for most. That includes most office works as well.

Yes, you can always demand more but....
Yep. If I needed to buy a laptop for telework, this would fit the bill quite nicely.

Cost is as low as possible with good performance, numpad, relatively large display and high resolution which is useful when working with Excel spreadhseets. Mind, Windows and Office runs fine even on 10 year old Nehalem CPUs as long as one has a decent SSD.

I have an older ThinkPad with 1366x768 and it feels relly cramped working on Excel. For me, 1080p's definitely worth the extra $50 over the Walmart version.

1080p IPS would be nice but with the Acer that was linked earlier, you only get 4GB RAM and 120GB storage which is just too little. Upgrading those would make it a $450-500 laptop rather than a $350 one.
