Not multiple of the same card. 1 Freedom Unlimited and 1 Freedom — yes.

If you get rejected sometimes there are errors in their automation side or just simply discrepancies. I have always called the reconsideration lines for credit agencies and sometimes even gotten approved over the phone.

At the least it will tell you why you got denied and it will be a learning experience. In this specific case: Always call laugh out loud
That's not how the offer reads:

Earn a $200 bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.* And earn 5% cash back on grocery store purchases (not including TargetĀ® or WalmartĀ® purchases) on up to $12,000 spent in the first year.*
Yes you are. The Chase Freedom and Freedom Unlimited are different cards. Go and apply for it! If you do, please use someone's referral link (they get $100) to share the wealth!

It's 20,000 UR actually (which is $200 if you take a lower-value cashout)

Anyway the offer has bounced around in the 15k-20k range over the years... the extra thing that's new is the 5x on groceries for a limited time on top of that... which combined with the 1.5x pay-your-self-back feature for groceries CSR owners have access to effectively makes this 7.5% cash back equivalent on grocery spend.

But if you use the csr to get the pay me back, then that means you are not using the freedom card, so u can't get 5%

Freedom card will get you the 5% CB, you can still move the pts earned from Freedom to CSR.

But you will not get the 1.5x to pay yourself back on "this one" transaction. You can still use the pts at 1.5x to pay other transaction which incurred on the CSR on qualifying sales Category.

Wait, if you have the CSR, do you also get the bonus if you open the freedom?

As long as you didn't apply for the same freedom card in the past. My understanding is that this is a different product line.

Yup- plus on pay yourself back stuff for the other categories too

For example restaurant food (that you might've charged to CSR for the 3x points) can be "paid back" using the 5x points on grocery spend at a 1.5x bonus, effectively "earning" 7.5% cash equivalent on your grocery spend.

Or for the simplest version of the math- $1.00 of grocery spend gets you 5x UR points, transfer to CSR, and "pay off" 7.5 cents worth of spend in any of the pay yourself back categories you put on said CSR.

I applied for this card last month and submitted the information, unfortunately I got rejected even though my credit is above 730. What could I do differently this time to get accepted. What could be the reason for it? The letter that I recieved doesn't reveal any details about the exact reason of rejection.. I really want this card...

So I signed up for this card in June and got the 20k points, but the 5% grocery wasn't a feature then, they just added it. I called customer service to see if they can add
That benefit to my card but they said they can't. Anyone in the same boat have any luck getting the 5% added to an existing account?

For the CSP?

Most say you need over 700 for the CSP. So it might be a combo of factors.

Chase is not a "started" CC issuer. So if you don't have a decently long credit history or history with chase, you might not get approved. If this is the case try starting with the Freedom or freedom Unlimited. Tho even those are typically not thought of as starter cards. Chase just isn't in that market.

Chase has the 5/24 rule. So if you have opened 5 or more CC's in 24months, they won't approve you, no matter ur credit score or income. This is CC's from any bank, not just Chase. There are some odd exceptions not worth going into.

The CSP has a min $5,000 credit limit due to type of visa it is. So if ur income or other credit isn't such to support that, they would decline you.

I also think it is Chase that puts a total credit allowed limit. It's like 50% of income. So if you make $50,000 but Chase has already extended you $25,000 they won't approve more.

All these have exceptions. There is a reconsideration line you can call. There are reports of people having luck with it. For example, if it's your total credit with Chase, you can ask them to lower the limit on some of your other cards and they might approve.

I'd at least call the reconsideration line. They should tell you why you were declined. I believe they are required to tell you in writing.

The referral link which I generated does not show/say 5% for Grocery, upto $12k.

Shall I just have my family go thru chase.com?
