IDK. $300 for a Wifi 5 Mesh System with no wired backhaul, no Ethernet ports on the AP's, limited admin dashboard features, etc. doesn't seem like a great deal to me.

I really wish Costco sells router combo packs like Amazon does. If you read/watch the reviews, you will notice feedback that the wifi points provide lower speeds. Also, the other important thing to note and compared to the gen 1 Google wifi is that the points do not have ethernet ports and can act only as access points.

No need to return it back at Costco, just keep it then go to Customer Service desk with your receipt on Aug 5 and ask for the price difference. They give you 30 days from purchase.

Exactly. Most people who need multiple access points also have some means of using a wired connection, either through the attic or crawlspace, to handle the heavy lifting over longer distances. This way, the access points can run at full speed rather than sharing bandwidth for the backhaul.
Eh, I don't have any ethernet running in my house so couldn't use a wired backhaul if I wanted to. Same goes for the rest of my subdivision. Honestly, haven't seen a single house in my Atlanta suburban area with ethernet throughout, even in newer homes. The wireless backhaul would be useful, but in my case unnecessary. We're a family of four with multiple devices, laptops, tablets, phones, etc all while working and going to school virtually. Never a hiccup.

I purchased this set back in Nov 2019. I initially only used the router with 2 satellites. I have one of them in the basement. This system is flawless. I use fiber only. I recently added the 4th satellite to have better coverage in the garage and back yard. I do not miss the ethernet ports on the satellites.

Google could've done so much with their 2nd gen wifi but they barely made any hardware improvements while competitors came out swinging with new upgraded wifi6 kits.
Which particular ones are you referring to?

Can you do the price adjustment by email or we have to go to the service counter in store?

Instead of these kind of mesh system, wouldn't it be better to add another wi-fi router e.g. in a 2 storied house, wi-fi router on upper floor (with its own SSID) separate from the main floor wi-fi router?

This sounds like one of those things where you might not know what you're missing. There's just no way around sharing the bandwidth on this device, so speed will suffer. Some other wireless systems use seperate channels for the backhaul, which is better, but wired is best. Also, installing cable doesn't have to be complicated and it doesn't have to reach every location. One single wire running from one side of the house to the other can have dramatic results. Plus, the ethernet isn't like AC which requires shielding and opening up walls and code requirements. Ethernet can be run inside the furnace/AC ductwork (use the proper type) or in the attic just laying on top of insulation. The ethernet cable can even carry the electricity needed to power an access point, meaning that an AC outlet isn't needed.

Then you would have to manually switch which wifi you're connecting to base on which floor of the house ur on. On top of that you can only have 1 modem going to 1 router so it's not possible to do what you want

If you order online, there is an online price adjustment form out there. You'll have to do a Google search for it.

Triggered my alert! Was really confused because I had jsut looked 10 minutes ago at the costco site.

FYI for slow readers, the sale will be live 8/5.

OP how easy is getting a price adjustment from costco over the phone/web?

On upper floor most rooms, one can connect to the ssid of upper floor wi-fi router (for better connection quality). Plug in that upper floor router in a ethernet jack available on upper floor.

The main floor router is connected to the ISP modem on main floor.

Isn't this a better setup ?

If you already have a router can you use another router as a wireless Ethernet access point? Not sure if that makes sense.

This is a really good deal on a 4 pack. I wonder if they realized they made a big mistake not launching wifi 6 variants this late in the game and might be putting out a new wifi 6 version soon.
