Never used this method but after sealing, isn't it easy to pull the wires apart?

Good on the notion, but solder takes a lot more heat than the outside plastic, see those reviews. I'll stick to the old ways.

It is a very strong hold because it both solders the wires (so they have a firm grip) and has a built in heat shrink which will make the outer layer/shielding stay in place.

If you never tried it, I would give it a shot. I'm an electronics engineer and have no trouble at all when it comes to soldering. But I still use these occasionally since they are so convenient. Just heat it up until you see the actual solder joint change color (that means the solder flowed). Use a real heat gun where it is concentrated in the center vs a hair dryer.

By the way, these specifically use a low temperature solder alloy, which is why it is possible with a heat gun.

I never tried this brand but I did use Sopoby on Amazon, worked perfectly every time.

ehh. id buy this because its something i might be able to use, but im done with these mystery codes for amazon items.

unless op has a better explanation, the only way to get these codes is if the amazon seller approaches OP and says, hey, post this to slickdeals for $15. use this code. then contacts a bunch of other people and says, hey, upvote this post for $5.

which also means they have likely paid for the positive reviews. aka this item is completely of unknown quality. pass.

This is absolutely not a replacement for jobs that need quality soldering. And you're right that the plastic melts far before the solder does, but the secret is to use very high heat, like a flame on the solder first, and then briefly on the plastic seals. For the most part these work well enough. I've used them before and would use them again, simply because I hate and suck at soldering and you need like 5 different things in a solder kit, while this is just a tube and a high heat source. I just wish there was an alternative like this to soldering onto PCB's or from a part to a cable, like some kinda conductive glue.

Also these are generic Chinese products, check eBay or AliExpress or wherever to get good deals on them and in the quantities and sizes you need.

I used these (not this exact kit but I assume they are all the same) to connect a wiring harness to my radio for my car. Worked really nice. This basically solders and heat wraps them at the same time. Is pretty low temp solder but I doubt you could pull them apart easily (assuming you left the heat on the solder ring enough for it to actually melt). Its nice that the connection is also water tight (thats what the colored rings are for), but only for a 1 to 1 wire splice. You likely wont get a proper seal if you are trying to join more that 2 pieces of wire.

Most of these cheap china brands horrible. I bought a few crimp connectors recently on amazon were so thin and cheap. could barely crimp anything. very weak thin copper. then usa brand are too expensive. im in a bubble
