IN-STORE ONLY
This is the lowest standalone price I've seen since they discontinued the Pi 4 1GB model and replaced it with the 2GB.

Basically there was a design flaw that causes the Pi to misreport it's power needs to "smart" usb chargers in such that the charger will not power the Pi.

Dumb usb chargers work just fine (hence the recommendation of the official power supply). Also the cost of these "smart" chargers plus the special usb c cable often cost more than the Pi itself. (who uses a $50 charger + $20 cable to power a $35 Pi?)

Thus right now it isn't much of a problem, but could be in the future when a Pi newbie unaware of the usb design flaw landfills a Pi because it won't work using their macbook charger.
cause 99% of plex boxes don't need i7 with 12 cores. the appeal of pi/plex is cost
I can confirm that 2GB version at Denver location is version 1.2 I picked it up this afternoon for my plex project. I have not tested this over Rasbian but just the hardware image confirmation from the link above.

I'm using the 2gb version as a Plex media server with openmediavault for easy file access and transfers. It's great. Much better than the 3 was.

Westbury NY still has the original version. I figure its not a big deal, I put a piece of kapton tape over the voltage switch. Then when I put it in a case I saw that there way no way for the microSD to touch the voltage switch anyway. I used a heatsink I had laying around and its got more weight to it than a lot of those cheapo ones they sell now. I was going to put a fan on it but was giving it some HEVC videos to play and I could only get it into the mid 40's C, which is great, no need for a fan, but the top of the case is off. I used some high tech double sided tape designed for heat sinks, bought it many years ago, it's paper thin. I remembered that your not supposed to compress the tape, works well.

Not sure what firmware the pie came with but the video software does have the option to update it. Libreelec has pi4 software if anyone is interested.

Some changes updated on the Raspberry Pi 4 Computer Model B 2GB V1.2:
1. Besides the official USB Type-C cable, Pi 4 V1.2 is compatible with other Type-C cables as well.
2. Move the WLCSP SD card voltage switch to the top side to protect Pi 4 from damage.
3. Tweak the silkscreen to reduce solder bridging in manufacture.

No, the 'fix' is for compatibility with e-marked USB c cables. If you don't know what that is, you don't have one.

A pre-fix pi4 works fine with the 10+ USB c cables I own. Much more than the one that comes with the official charger.

Thanks for the additional information. I'm a Pi newbie. I don't think this will apply to me much, as I'm looking to stick this in a 3D Printer running OctoPi, so I'll end up powering it via a dedicated power buck converter inside the printer. Though, replacing the Dell Precision T1700 i'm running as a Plex Server with one of these has appeal.
