If you already have a membership to BJ's and Sam's is there anything Costco does better than the other 2?

I've had a BJ's membership for about 10 years after moving; BJ's is on my way to work (gas) and I have their top-tier (5%) card.

I am a Sam's member only because of their seemingly constant practically-free promos. The closest one is near where my IL's live about a half hour drive.

There is a newish Costco probably 10-15 minute drive out of my way from work - so the question is, is it worthwhile getting a membership?

Could someone help clarify this for me. My membership expired last November and havent renewed it since. So it basically crossed the 90 days renewal window. Since the current promotion says it is only applicable for New Members and those whose memberships expired prior to April 1, 2020.

So do I qualify for this deal ? Do I need to use the voucher against my old account or should it be a new account signup ?

Just to confirm - you still need to pay for tax when you buy the membership with this, right?
Hi, customers must set up Auto-Renewal and pay for applicable taxes using a Visa card at the redemption process.

I did the same, hopefully will get the promotions.
Did the same as mentioned below as well and called Costco's customer service rep, who said to go ahead and add the CC info as well for auto-renewal (although I don't think she knew the answer)......

The instructions are incorrect on signing up for auto-renewal.
I put in my Visa card and it did not give any option to opt into auto-renew.
I then put in the $60 card code and PIN and bought the membership.
I then went into the account and saw auto-renew was not active, so I entered my Visa number and activated it. Hope this does not screw up the promotions that are supposed to be attached to my account.Guess I have to wait 4-6 weeks to find out.

I got the groupon but when I go to Costco 's membership website I cannot get past the first page (where you put in name and create the account), keeps saying "The information is incorrect". Anybody else had this issue? Thx.

This may have been discussed but does it work if you cancel your membership and another member of your family signs up and you become the secondary?

I know that Costco accepts Samsung pay but does Costco accept Paypal via Samsung pay? That way I can get an additional 5% cashback using Paypal as it is linked to my Discover card (current Discover promotion).

Hi, you can buy the deal on our website now and redeem in a later date. Just remember that the voucher needs to be redeemed by December 31, 2020 to qualify for incentives.

Hi, this is not valid for those with a current Costco membership or memberships that expired after April 1, 2020. If you have a question about whether you qualify as a new member, contact the membership counter at your local Costco.

Hi, this membership promotion is only valid for a new member of Costco. It is not valid for those with a current Costco membership or memberships that expired after April 1, 2020. If you are currently registered with a membership you are unable to use this deal.

My costco membership expired two years ago. Would I be able to redeem this promotion using the same email address?

Hey everyone, i just wanted to enquire if anyone did not have the visa issue at sign in with the $60 gift card nullify auto pay out issue? I know a lot of us did but was just wondering if anyone was successful at entering it somehow that allowed them to see their auto renew on their payment page after without having to reenter the info personally. Thx
I know that people were having problems (and it worried me so I wanted to wait to see if anyone posted up a successful step by step) but I went ahead and signed up with just a few hiccups. For background my previous membership expired in January.

I opened up the voucher from LivingSocial/Groupon which displayed the $60 value shop card and then followed the link to the membership signup page. I was tempted to hit the "renew membership" button because I felt like I was just renewing my previous membership but followed the instructions to buy a new gold star membership.

I entered all my info and, at the bottom of the page entered in my previous Costco online login info (it's one of the options). At the checkout page I entered a Visa card and then the Costco shop card details under it. Now there's an APPLY button next to the Costco shop card entry. When I hit that it cleared out my VISA details that I had entered but updated the Costco card section to show the last 4 digits of the card I entered and said "$60 value". I went back up and entered my Visa info again. There was no option or area that said anything about auto-renewing.

Besides it clearing my Visa info after hitting 'apply' for the Costco card details the other small hiccups were that the entry box for the Visa CVC stayed red, as if I had entered an incorrect number or none at all. Then at the bottom of the page no matter what I did it would not let me check the box that said I had read the terms and conditions. Yes, I did scroll all the way to the bottom of that box/section. I scrolled up and down all the way a number of times but the approval area stayed red and kept saying I had to scroll through to read it before I could check the box. I gave up and just hit BUY MEMBERSHIP and it took me to the terms and conditions on the next/new page where I was able to check the box at the bottom.

At that point I received a Visa alert that my card was charged the tax on the $60 (which I could see on the membership checkout page) after the $60 was subtracted. I was issued a new membership number that is different from the one I had previously but my past order history was there. In the auto renew section my Visa card details were already/still there.

If you guys are having your Visa card details cleared out when buying the membership I imagine you're note getting charged tax? Because they can't complete the signup if they can't charge that bit extra over the $60 voucher. Also, are you guy not noticing that the Visa card details are getting cleared out after the shop card is applied or is something else happening? I have to think that I went back and reviewed everything more than normal because I expected to have trouble based on the reports on this thread.

Check the phone number format. That kept giving me trouble. I had to type out +1-XXX-XXX-XXXX (I think) for it to accept my phone number and allow me to move on.

My card details were wiped out and yeah, I was not charged tax. But the membership order went through, at least it shows as active in Costco systems. Maybe it eventually gets bounced back to the shop card for a re-do?

I reached out to Groupon but got a canned reply about what will happen, but they did at least give a costco email address to reach out to if nothing comes in the mail. So maybe it will work out, at worst with some nagging?

Otherwise let me tell you about this FIRE slickdeal where you get a tax holiday on Costco memberships for a year...

I can't complete the deal because Costco's website on the final page has you "accept" the terms but the box cannot be clicked. Thus unable to get a Costco membership.
