According to the fine print, the $40 gift card and $40 off $250 online code are mailed 4-6 weeks after you activate the membership, but they also both expire on Dec 31. Keep that in mind if you plan to wait a while to activate, especially with all of the delays various delivery services have been experiencing lately, which are only likely to worsen as we get closer to Christmas.

edit: Groupon has confirmed in this thread that both the $40 off $250 online code and the $40 Shop Card expire at the end of January.

Also, the Groupon offer itself is available until August 31st.

Yes, you have about 11 months to do that.

Remember to sign up at BEGINNING of the month as membership always expires at end of month, 13 for 12.

The Costco I used to go to had self check out for months years ago and then they got rid of it because of theft. My current Costco has self check out and in both cases it did not do anything to ease the checkout wait. For some reason when people have to scan their own items they're dumbfounded. It holds up the line and then there are the people with a cart full of stuff who goes to the self check out. It's so aggravating. Sams club has the same problem too but at least the one by me limits to 10 items or fewer.

Did Groupon recently block Discover card via Paypal? That 5% quarterly was making or breaking this deal for me, and it wasn't showing up as a usable card despite being in my wallet

Both of my Costco stores have self checkout and they're manned to keep it moving, prevent theft, etc. I love it!
