You have to wait 4 years since opening the first one before you can get another.
The application date or the card open date doesn't matter. What matters is the date that you received the sign-up bonus. That date is probably the closing date of the statement in which it was awarded to you.
For example, if you met the minimum spend for the sign up bonus in the first month the card was opened, the statement closing date was probably October or November 2016. If you met the minimum spend in the 3rd month that the card was opened, then the bonus may have been awarded in January or even February - again, depends on the statement closing date. You can check your first few statements in that account to know for sure.

was about to sign up for the freedom flex for the signup bonus, but might take this and just do a product change on my freedom to freedom flex. thoughts?
Fact: Freedom(visa) cannot be changed to flex(mastercard)
Fact: Freedom(visa) cannot be changed to flex(mastercard)
I was about to do that over the phone and they sounded like they could do it. I just had to pull out bc they said I wouldn't be eligible for the sign up bonus via a product change/upgrade. Did I just get a dumb CSR?
so my application was not initially approved and i called their lending department at - 8772600084.
They requested my SSN and proof of address. I politely asked if they were not aware of my address and SSN after me being their customer for 5 years? As a result of this question they approved me on the spot and I can see the card in my account now. The system would not allow me to add it to apple pay for now so looks like will need to wait for physical card.
Otherwise - another chase chore which pays well and requires some hassle.
I'm sure this answer lies somewhere in the forum, but if someone can spare me the 30-1 hour of digging through here for it I'd appreciate it:
1) If you had a sapphire preferred at one point (more than 2 years ago) and downgraded it to a non-fee generic sapphire card, can you reapply for the sapphire preferred while still having an open generic sapphire card?
2) I also have a sapphire reserve that's active along with the generic sapphire - both opened longer than 2 years ago (4-5 years ago) - is there a limit to how many sapphire cards you can have open, and promotions you can get, still being outside of the 2 years 5 cards timeframe?

I hope my questions are clear, thanks!
1a). The relevant time limit re. approval/bonus for Sapphire cards is 4 YEARS, not 2 years. Being under 5/24 is a necessary, but not sufficient condition for getting a new Sapphire Preferred/Reserve card.
1b). No. The plain Sapphire is still a Sapphire. Holding any Sapphire card = auto rejection of your Sapphire Preferred application.
2). See 1b. If you have multiple Sapphires currently open, they are safe as-is. But for new Sapphire card applications, you need to have 0 (ZERO) Sapphire cards of any kind open.

Nah change the freedom to the unlimited and apply for both flex and sapphire for 100k bonus. If you are under 5/24 though.

No, I think in this instance, you are the one who is dumb. The CSR is correct.
I just downgraded yesterday (right before I posted), a visa can be downgraded to visa only
I though you previously referred to product changing a visa freedom to flex mastercard, which is allowed. Maybe I missed the context if you were discussing something else from an earlier post.

Fact: In addition to 4 years, you cannot have 2 saphire cards at once. You need to downgrade one first
