Amazon gave me refunds for the cards even tho one was over a year old and I threw them in the trash.
Next memory cards I buy will be directly from Best Buy via price matching to Amazon.
That seems to be the best/safest solution.
First, if you are already a gopro subscriber, they give you an additional discount on the camera. I am not, so I couldn't see what the discount actually was.
When you check out, they break out the subscription cost (49.99) separately from the bundle cost and ask you to acknowledge it. At first, I was confused and thought they were adding this to the total cost, but when I checked out, it wasn't added. I did have to pay tax, and 2-day shipping was free.

I think I actually prefer the max with the reframed upscale 4k, 360, spatial audio. I wish the hero mode 1440p can be upscaled but at least it has max superview + max hypersmooth and these footages can be combined with the reframed footages. One annoying con is the limited software so 3rd party free software needs to be used. Personally i think the footages are better than insta360 360 module. However the max footage is darker than hero 8 footages.

No additional discount for current GoPro Plus subscriber. Once you login in during checkout they remove the subscription and change the price of the camera from $300 to $350.
This sucks for us who are already subscribed but hey I'll just hold on to my Hero 8 for now.

Older Galaxy smartphones (S6, S8) ironically used to do better, but the latest 2 generations (S10, S20) are very sharp for close-ups (people, small objects), but landscapes just don't come out with clarity, and distant nature just becomes a soft green blur.
The $100 discount on the Hero9 and Max is listed explicitly on GoPro's website.

Way more software features, especially AI. And Insta360 doesn't nickel and dime you for bullshit. Their mic adapter is $10, and the One R natively supports Airpods.

It sounds like you want something with optical zoom (which could be significantly less costly than an SLR + telephoto lenses), but then you said you want wide FOV? With a wide angle, even if the camera can focus sharply on the leaves in the distance, they're still going to be tiny. So I'm not sure what you want actually exists.
For "superzoom" vacations shots, I wonder how something like the Canon SX620 [bestbuy.com] would do.
For reference, I'm a passionate hobbyist photographer. I have a Canon 6D SLR along with a bunch of lenses. My phone is a Galaxy S9, and my HERO 9 is on the way.
Will you run out of battery before the card is filled? or will I need a second battery to fill up a 32gb card?
