I wouldn't make any assumptions about much of anything in 2020.
That's not how supply & demand works, but I'm still hoping for some good deals.

55 is $650 on Amazon right now - that standard?
It really depends on the supply demand balance. One could speculate that there could be fewer sales if demand is strong at non-sale prices.
Yep that's the standard retail price

Even the 5 series from a couple of years ago I have looks great. I wish I got the TCL 6 series over my P series Vizio that is more money and has a worse picture than my 5 series TCL in my opinion. And now 6 series is 120hz so can't go wrong. Also I have a Samsung 7 series and OLED LG so I don't just buy budget TVs and TCL in my opinion is hands down the best budget TV money can buy. oh, and not just budget but fantastic TVS all around. I would recommend it as a main TV for anyone not trying to spend an arm and a leg for OLED.

I have a 2018 Vizio P Quantum and the blooming is pretty distracting IMO despite an otherwise great HDR picture
