For everyone who keeps questioning the warranty information:

The boxes in the warehouse have an additional packet of warranty information attached to the boxes. (At least they do here locally.)

So even though the box is printed with a 3-year warranty on it, the additional information explains the extension of the 3 year warranty to 5 years.

(And yes, if you use the Costco Visa credit card, that tacks on an additional 2 years, making it 7 years total.)

Hope this helps clarify things a bit...

Sony's pushing it as part of their "PS5 Ready" series and is actually one of the few TV's capable of gaming 4K at 120 Frames...however this tv will not do it out the box until a firmware update Sony has yet to push. It's assumed they'll do it closer to PS5 launch Source: https://www.techradar.com/news/sony-ps5-ready-tv

I mean you bought this way back in July. So you've enjoyed this TV for about 2 months while others patiently waited. Maybe just go to Costco and see if they will price adjust without all the hassles of returning. Cause you returning will just cause your TV to get sent back to Sony and they will then have to sell it as refurbished and then reship it somewhere else to sell. The carbon footprint of all this is huge.

OK so total TV noob here but in the market for a 65+ TV (possibly even 70). My question to experts is that if I'm not a gamer then will this TV be still a good bargain for casual 1-2 hour TV watching a day? Or should I wait till thanks giving for OLED or NanoLED? I watch mostly TV series and may be a game here or there. TIA!
Even new TCL, Hisense have better colors than this. Only get this if you are a gamer IMO

Where did you find a 2019 65" Samsung Q80R for under $1000?

Been waiting a while for the 65" X75CH or X90CH to go on sale. Saw this in the catalog and was very excited.

Will be picking one up on Sept 30th!

Edit: Should I buy earlier and have them price match at a later date? I am not sure how crazy the demand is going to be at this price.

I was just in Best Buy and talked to some very helpful employees. They told me the 65" 900H will go down to $999 (maybe $969) on September 30 so you should be able to get a refund on the difference directly from them. They said it was a Sony thing on the 65" and not just a Costco special.
Huge. Thanks!

2019 had big discounts on 2018 models. 2020 had almost no discounts on 2019 models due to the stay at home order; which, made everyone buy new TVs. Nowadays, many people are still buying TVs so I don't expect to see big discounts on old models until the pandemic ends. So I guess Black Friday will probably be the lowest price for this TV.
We are already seeing big discounts. This thread is one example. Other big discounts on 900f and 950g recently. Not seeing the logic in what you are saying.

I think it was due to the source more than anything. Just keep in mind that it doesn't have the best contrast, so the picture isn't going to pop like a highend TV, but the it has good blacks and the shadow detail is good. If you can get a 950h for a good price that's better for 4k movie watching than this, but this seems like a good price.
Real banding is not due to source, it will just be more obvious in different color and scene situations. Your TV either has it or doesn't. Source might change settings and details that highlight the banding, but banding is not limited to a specific source.

5 year warranty on this deal? Is that true? I might have to return my Best Buy X900H and get this, even if Best Buy has it on sale and matches their own price. That warranty.

That's exactly what everyone said when this exact TV went sale for $1169. Now the people who bought the TV want a price adjustment to save $200. Big discounts do not necessarily mean it is the lowest price that the TV will go to. There is a good chance that this TV or the 65" Sony X900F will drop even more in price during Black Friday or Prime Day.

So, may be a dumb question, but reading through all the comments people are stating there are between 1 and 2 HDMI 2.1 ports on this tv. In the description on the costco site it shows all 4 are HDMI 2.1, where is the disconnect?
Until Sony pushes out the firmware with the 2.1 update, everyone is just guessing. Technically none of the ports are HDMI 2.1 as of today. Even Sony doesn't list them as such on their website, but only that they will be upgraded in a future update. Most likely they are testing the firmware over and over up until their PS5 is released. We will probably see it released then.

It was hypothetical taking all factors out of comparison except for quality
Thank you everyone for the input though, i heard arguments for both tvs

Just got off the phone with my local Costco where they have 17 in stock. When I asked if I could buy today and price adjust next week he replied that the answer he is supposed to give me is "absolutely not". However, he continued to explain that if I were to go ahead and try anyways that it would work.

I used my 40 off 250 coupon last week but decided to return the item. Now it's not working because it's a one-time use only. Will Costco give me another one given that I returned the item I used that one with? I'm hoping to use it on this and get a price adjustment.
