I dont believe it will be bundled with the TV on the sale date. I think the 5 years warranty is just thru sony now and the square trade just covers years 3-5 of that aswell. It's very confusing and not a smart move on sonys part. Plus I'm instead to see how there going to actually included 5 years of warranty cause on the box it says 3 years. Could a new box/revision be coming aswell ?? Very confusing
Based on your call I'm going to have to 100% take this TV back to return\re-buy and also return the $99 SquareTrade I bought with it; then turn around and buy the TV back. Hopefully they don't pull a "Best Buy" on me where I tried to do this same type of thing better than a decade ago and Best Buy refused to let me buy the TV back at the sale price when I was at the desk returning it. They insisted it needed to go through an inventory process before it could be 'released' for sale again. Hopefully Costco will be amicable about it in my desire to pay less for the TV and have better warranty coverage. There's also the possibility my store got more sets to add to the 3 that were left there after I bought mine and if they want to get difficult I can return and then go around to the front and grab a new one to pay for with the deal (or go online and buy there).

As someone who sold consumer electronics for 20 years, I can tell you 99% or the time extended warranties are worthless. If a product is going to fail it typically does so within the first months. Certainly within the first year. That being said, the additional warranty may give you some warm fuzzies - but it would never ever be a buying decision for me. Why do you think they include the "extra warranty"? Because they know they won't have to use it

Just got of the phone with Costco rep they told me straight out.

Return it and buy again warranty changes aren't covered by price adjustments... just got it delivered last week seems they'll also do nothing if you paid the 99$ for square trade and now it's cheaper when the sale goes live..

Honestly I got a good panel with not mounting bands which EVERYONE SHOULD IMMEDIATELY CHECK THERE PLANEL WHEN THEY GET THERE'S Especially the 65in.. dont wanna lug it back. I'd douvle check buying one from anywhere as alot of people will be returning to get the better warranty. Even costco there delivery service is still a warehouse box

IE: if bought before the 30th(sale starts) your stuck with 3 years instead of 5 with costco. even with squaretrade
My Costco rep on chat said that you will have 5 year manufacturer warranty. They dont seem to know anything and Costco/Sony has made it very confusing.

You want Costco to be amicable to you abusing the system so that you can cut in line? There should be some hoops to jump through to discourage this behavior.

Agreed, though this isn't something I do every day (last time was on a Sony projection TV set LOL.. that actually still works and in my basement). I guess it would be appreciative if the associate could ring it up at the sale price after return out of convenience for both of us (them not having to return it to the floor and me standing right there willing to pay the new price\deal immediately and take it back home with me). I've been *that guy* that arrives for a sale only to have someone that got there a minute before take the last 3 of whatever I explicitly driven to the store for. That's the reason I 'bought early', but understand if the store won't let me buy it at the new price right away (it would just feel unfair as I know others likely wouldn't encounter a situation so petty).

Really ? That's odd and good if true. Wish they would've said that to me. Any proof of that chat to back it up ? Cause that's my other question how would they even know which are 5 or 3 year warrantys wouldn't all just transfer to 5 ? Costco speaking wise so no matter when u bought it it wouldn't matter

Yeah, I fail to grasp the importance of paying astronomical amounts for extended warranty coverage, especially when the warranty costs upward of two to four hundred dollars covering an item that runs only a thousand, or two to begin with. Use the CC that adds free extra coverage and if something were to fail, it would probably happen within the first three years anyway. Additionally, for many consumers, it is not a financial disaster if an electronic item needs to be replaced in four, or five years, especially with newer technology being introduced constantly. For a serial warranty buyer, the cost and recovery equation is not favorable, meaning, one will end up spending more in aggregate to buy the coverages and get less out of it eventually when something does develop major problems within the warranty period.

Sure. But this TVs main selling point is its 4k@120 VRR and those features aren't even available on the tv and if they where you don't have a device that can use those features unless you lucked out and got a 3080 cause nothing else is on the market. The soonest Sony even adds this update is November 12th or maybe a week before. The TV will be at its lowest price point this year in November. So you have no excuses not waiting. And if you don't want to wait don't jack the price for everyone by returning and re buying.

So you're saying wait until November to buy this TV??

Why oh why did Sony have to go and only make 2 of these ports HDMI 2.1? You need 3, minimum, if you have an ARC/eARC connection
