Based on the information from this thread and another community, I created a guide so that more people can hopefully navigate this deal easier and so questions won't be continuously repeated.

Because this will be a living document, I created a Google Doc for ease of updates: https://docs.google.com/document/...sp=sharing

Note: I am not a T-Mobile employee and this is my first-time doing a trade-in with a Hookup code, so I am learning alongside most people here; thus, my guide may not be fully accurate. Feel free to make suggestions for corrections if you notice any mistakes or parts that lack clarity. And if you found my guide helpful, please post a response here just so I know and will continue doing these. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Since this involves a trade-in, just want to remind folks that you can trade-in in person at a T-mobile corporate location and by doing so, avoid any surprises from mailing in your device

Starting 9/25 get a Galaxy S20 FE 5G for just $200 over 24 months via bill credits when you trade in an eligible device:

Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ

Or get one free via bill credits when you add a line.

THIS STACKS WITH THE $200 HOOKUP CODE! Remember, only one Insider Hookup code per account, whether it's the 20% or the $200. See here for details on that promo. Please do not ask for hookup codes in this post.

Please note: This WILL NOT stack with the free line. The free line ends 9/24, and this phone promo begins 9/25. There is NO WAY to get this phone for free using the free line. Please don't bother support trying to do it.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...-s20-fe-5g

Click the magenta text at the top of the page to see the offer for $500 off. Must be logged in to see the offer. To see the "free with add a line" offer, open in incognito. Please note the $500 off page currently says "when you add a line and trade in" but the adding a line part is a typo and not necessary.

yeah, I would assume that, but it doesn't show up in the ordering process anywhere.

when adding a line, it clearly shows $699 promo credit and a result of monthly due of $0 for the phone, I would expect the same to show up when trading in
I bought the 6t a couple years ago when it was released on a similar trade in promo with bill credits..I did everything at the store though, not online. I didn't receive anything in writing regarding the bill credits other than the associate's verbal assurance. He said you will receive a text and email from T-Mobile within the next 24 hours. I eventually did get the message about the bill credits and it kicked in the next billing cycle. But yes at the time of purchase, there is nothing that clearly tells you about bill credits on the receipt or anywhere, whether you do it in store or online

I'm on simple choice plan. I was able to apply it to my account for the A71 deal using type 3 code.

I think we're out. One representative I talked to on the phone yesterday said that but I just wanted to confirm. Sometimes the representatives don't know about the old grandfathered plans. Oh well. I also looked at the trade in $500 offer as well and it says Simple Choice Plan is excluded. I don't think know if they're talking about the old grandfathered one or the the new one they brought back briefly this year.
I just placed my order. The rep I talked to confirmed that my old Simple Choice plan is eligible for the $500 trade-in credit and she confirmed that the plan is eligible for the insider hookup code. And looks like milk confirmed that it worked on his account, thanks!

Really, I thought once you paid off the device you can trade it in and also have the credits
continue. Did they change it recently ? Did you try online or in-store ?

I am in the same boat and debating paying off the pixel 3a for the s20 fe.
Yeah I just talked to a rep and have him double and triple check it and that's what he told me. This was via chat through their app. I may try reaching out to T-Force and see what they say. Yeah, losing $120 of credit is a tough pill to swallow for this deal. I too thought that all you have to do is pay of the device and the credits will still be good. Didn't realize that once the phone is gone in a trade-in, so is the credit with it.

I got the deal via chat in the Tmobile app.
Were they able to waived the $20 upgrade fee for you? I asked but they were unable to waived for me.

What am I locking myself into exactly as far as the EIP? I have Magenta with 4 lines I use and 2 free lines. I have no plans to leave T-Mobile anytime soon as I'm like a 14 year customer.

Do I agree to keep all lines active or am I just agreeing to keep the line the phone is on active in order to keep the bill credits coming?

Can I later add another line and then cancel that additional line later and still keep my bill credits?

Can I pay off the balance of this new phone and sell or use it in another trade-in and still continue to get the bill credits?
To be safe, you pretty much have to stick to the phone for 2 years till it's paid off to receive bill credits and be able to do anything with it (unlock, sell, trade, etc) However, tmobile reps will give you different responses all the time. One will tell you, you can pay it off early and will continue to receive your bill credits for the remaining months and another will tell you that you will lose your bill credits and full amount will be due. That's why I always prefer the Costco route where you get a prepaid card for the trade in amount instead.. but at the moment, they aren't offering this deal

Yes, prefer the Costco route as well usually, but also no $200 hookup via Costco.

Basically turning my unused S7 into a free S20 FE is a no-brainer.

I agree, I'm just trying to figure out how to do the same thing without messing up my plan. I figure the BEST CASE option with an S7 is selling it such that you put $50 in your pocket? So, yeah, you're not getting the full $500 vs. buying from Samsung (at 600 - 100 TIV for the phone, so at Samsung you'd be at like 560 or so after taxes vs. something like $270 after taxes here, but even then you're saving like $300). Anyway, it's convoluted, but the way I'm thinking of it is that they usually don't distinguish between models on trade ins like this, so if nothing else, you're taking the $50 that the phone can put in your pocket, plus $270, to roll your S7 into an S20 that will *probably* be worth $500-$600 on a trade-in for whatever the next Samsung flagship is...

I thought you get the trade in value + the promo credit. That's what other slickdeal posts have reported.

Does anyone know if they would accept a OnePlus with a cracked back glass, otherwise in great condition?

I got a oneplus 6t with a small crack on the back glass as well. Ppl I've talked to says as long as screen is crack free, no water damage and phone works it will be no problem. But always a slim chance of rejection I guess? Rep did say they can return the phone if rejected tho

So if you had a 20% hookup code applied two years ago and currently in your account, you can't enter a type 3 hookup code to get an additional $200 back when buying the S20 FE?

I don't know about your S7 but my S7 Edge is so slow since the last firmware update it's almost unusable.
