Based on the information from this thread and another community, I created a guide so that more people can hopefully navigate this deal easier and so questions won't be continuously repeated.

Because this will be a living document, I created a Google Doc for ease of updates: https://docs.google.com/document/...sp=sharing

Note: I am not a T-Mobile employee and this is my first-time doing a trade-in with a Hookup code, so I am learning alongside most people here; thus, my guide may not be fully accurate. Feel free to make suggestions for corrections if you notice any mistakes or parts that lack clarity. And if you found my guide helpful, please post a response here just so I know and will continue doing these. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Since this involves a trade-in, just want to remind folks that you can trade-in in person at a T-mobile corporate location and by doing so, avoid any surprises from mailing in your device

Starting 9/25 get a Galaxy S20 FE 5G for just $200 over 24 months via bill credits when you trade in an eligible device:

Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ

Or get one free via bill credits when you add a line.

THIS STACKS WITH THE $200 HOOKUP CODE! Remember, only one Insider Hookup code per account, whether it's the 20% or the $200. See here for details on that promo. Please do not ask for hookup codes in this post.

Please note: This WILL NOT stack with the free line. The free line ends 9/24, and this phone promo begins 9/25. There is NO WAY to get this phone for free using the free line. Please don't bother support trying to do it.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...-s20-fe-5g

Click the magenta text at the top of the page to see the offer for $500 off. Must be logged in to see the offer. To see the "free with add a line" offer, open in incognito. Please note the $500 off page currently says "when you add a line and trade in" but the adding a line part is a typo and not necessary.

So for those with type 3 hookup code, is this the normal message when you attempt to enter it?

Unfortunately you are not eligible for this offer because you do not have an eligible Rate Plan or Data Plan. Please contact T-Mobile Customer Care by dialing 611 from your handset to change to one of the qualifying plans.

So just wait till the phone ship and get the IMEI?
No that is not the normal message. It should take you to the login screen, then TOS acceptance, then ask for personal info and iemi

Question.. gf has a S8 which is her daily driver. For tradein - can it actually be mailed in after receipt of the new phone?
Yes it is generally supposed to be after receiving the new phone. The new device comes with a box and prepaid label.

So I pre-ordered and then got a Type 3 code. I went to the insider link and got all the way to the form where you fill out the address and IMEI number. I was told by a rep that the offer was good if you purchased by Sept 30 which I have done. There is no way for me to enter a IMEI number until I actually receive my phone. Will my code still be good then (is it now reserved for me?)? Is it okay to close the window with this form?
Your code isn't reserved for you. The people saying their codes are reserved are confusing it with type 1 codes.

For type 3, it's free game until claimed

So if no one uses my code, will I be able to input it in again and it will work?

Is the line that is upgrade eligible a SWAC plan or what plan is it on by the way?
Quote from ChrisC8162 :
My phone says "Upgrade Now"
Found out something interesting this morning. I currently have the SWAC line, which I brought an unlocked S9+ from and added it almost 2 years ago. I also have the Unlimited on Us line from the summer, which has an iPhone X on it that I paid in full from Sprint this summer when I added the free line.

When I click on the SWAC line to upgrade (it's eligible to upgrade), it doesn't give me the option for the trade-in. When I click on the Unlimited on Us line, it does give me the option to trade-in. But according to the Unlimited on Us line that I have, it's not eligible for any installment plan.

What's going on?

1. Most of people with S20 or newer use FHD+ instead of QHD+ since the 120Hz refresh rate only works with FHD+ setting. FHD+ with 120Hz looks great.
2. I've seen Galaxy Note 20 back and it looked fine. I'd go to Best Buy and check Note 20s since it has basically the same back panel.
I think you should get it if you don't plan to leave T-Mobile anytime soon. If she doesn't like the FE, you can just sell it as well.
Thank you for the response.
We've decided to go for it......deal is too good to pass up.
I wish I could take advantage of a Insider Hook Up offer but can't since I already used a Type 3 $200 in August.

I plan on going into the store to do this deal. Would it be rude for me to ask the employee for a type 3 hook up code as well? xD

Anyone with experience doing trade-ins, will they refuse the trade-in for a sticky home button / home button paint peeling? The phone (S7 Edge) is otherwise in excellent condition except for the darn home button...

I might do that. Struck out asking two Tforce reps via Facebook - the second one was adamant that you can only get them from "friends and family who work for TMobile." Also no luck on Reddit or discord.

Yes, I ordered mine this morning via chat and the customer rep even mentioned it to me and sent me the link.
$70 accessories credit really makes this even better. That should be in the OP or Wiki then. So once we get the phone IMEI, we go into the Shop Samsung app and register for this promo?
