Based on the information from this thread and another community, I created a guide so that more people can hopefully navigate this deal easier and so questions won't be continuously repeated.

Because this will be a living document, I created a Google Doc for ease of updates: https://docs.google.com/document/...sp=sharing

Note: I am not a T-Mobile employee and this is my first-time doing a trade-in with a Hookup code, so I am learning alongside most people here; thus, my guide may not be fully accurate. Feel free to make suggestions for corrections if you notice any mistakes or parts that lack clarity. And if you found my guide helpful, please post a response here just so I know and will continue doing these. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Since this involves a trade-in, just want to remind folks that you can trade-in in person at a T-mobile corporate location and by doing so, avoid any surprises from mailing in your device

Starting 9/25 get a Galaxy S20 FE 5G for just $200 over 24 months via bill credits when you trade in an eligible device:

Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ

Or get one free via bill credits when you add a line.

THIS STACKS WITH THE $200 HOOKUP CODE! Remember, only one Insider Hookup code per account, whether it's the 20% or the $200. See here for details on that promo. Please do not ask for hookup codes in this post.

Please note: This WILL NOT stack with the free line. The free line ends 9/24, and this phone promo begins 9/25. There is NO WAY to get this phone for free using the free line. Please don't bother support trying to do it.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...-s20-fe-5g

Click the magenta text at the top of the page to see the offer for $500 off. Must be logged in to see the offer. To see the "free with add a line" offer, open in incognito. Please note the $500 off page currently says "when you add a line and trade in" but the adding a line part is a typo and not necessary.

Another question: Can we swap phones around the account without jeopardizing the credits? For example, the 3rd line is the one that doesn't have credits but the other two lines do. Once I get this, can I use the phone on one of the other lines and that phone from the 1st/2nd line on the 3rd line?

Any idea, if this can be reserved, so no one else can use it? Also, is there a way to know, if code is TYPE 1, TYPE 2, or TYPE 3?
You will have to have place the order for the phone in order to reserve the code. The phone number you enter on the page along with the code needs to be tied to an EIP of a 5G device to get past the page.

If you put the code into https://insider.t-mobile.com/lookup, I think it tells you what code. I just tried a type 3, and it says "2020 T-Mobile Insider $200 Off". Not sure what the other codes say, but you can try random codes and see.

And it costs $200 more...
Am I missing something? Isn't the S20 $300 more than the S20 FE? $1000 vs $700. I might have done it for $200 more, but not $300.

Yes, it'll be fine.

Please don't get mad. My S8 works great but has a tiny 1/4 inch hairline crack on one of the edges. You can only see it if you look closely and feel it when you run your fingernail around area. Do they scrutinize th trade ins. If I recall, they just recycle older phone and don't resell them.

I'm wondering if we can pre-order now in-store and trade the phone in now directly to the store (corporate stores only, I think?). Ever since Samsung denied a trade, I don't trust sending it in with the chance it gets rejected. If you give it to the store and they accept, you're free and clear I think.

Good way to think. Surprised Samsung denied, I thought they were lenient.

This is strange.

When I click on that link in incognito mode, it shows "See how to get one FREE when you activate a new line."

When I click on that link but NOT in incognito mode, it shows "See how to save $500 when you trade in an eligible device."

So are these 2 different promos, and a consumer can pick whichever one they prefer?
If you are logged in to your account, it shows the trade in offer,
if you are not logged in, it shows free offer

Nope... The rejection reason were:

1) Phone was not reset to factory (and unable to unlock)
2) Phone was blacklisted

1) I had a video recording of the phone being hard factory reset and left at start set-up screen.
2) How could they tell my phone was blacklisted if they couldn't unlock my phone?

I wouldn't gamble $500 (or whatever) in credits when the supposed otherwise trade-in value would be like $63. I figure yes, it's probably missing out on $ (like going to Costco, which requires mailing in the trade-in), but the peace of mind is worth it.

You get same message for both TYPE 2, and TYPE 3 codes. I already placed the order, how do I reserve the code? I already have the code.

Chat rep on app confirmed the 37 is earned trade in value. The remainder of the 500 is basically only paid if you stay the whole time. Good thing though is if you want to bail after a year and a half you only lose the 6 months of credits not that i would do that.
Thanks for the repply. So if ypu trade in an S7 and stay for the whole 2 years, you get the full 500$ of credit?

You can swap the phone/hardware as you wish, however, promo would not move with device, it will stay with the line/phone number.

Yup! That's how it works... but if you leave early, you have to pay the balance of the phone and you don't get the monthly credits! (De facto 2 year contract)
