Based on the information from this thread and another community, I created a guide so that more people can hopefully navigate this deal easier and so questions won't be continuously repeated.

Because this will be a living document, I created a Google Doc for ease of updates: https://docs.google.com/document/...sp=sharing

Note: I am not a T-Mobile employee and this is my first-time doing a trade-in with a Hookup code, so I am learning alongside most people here; thus, my guide may not be fully accurate. Feel free to make suggestions for corrections if you notice any mistakes or parts that lack clarity. And if you found my guide helpful, please post a response here just so I know and will continue doing these. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Since this involves a trade-in, just want to remind folks that you can trade-in in person at a T-mobile corporate location and by doing so, avoid any surprises from mailing in your device

Starting 9/25 get a Galaxy S20 FE 5G for just $200 over 24 months via bill credits when you trade in an eligible device:

Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ

Or get one free via bill credits when you add a line.

THIS STACKS WITH THE $200 HOOKUP CODE! Remember, only one Insider Hookup code per account, whether it's the 20% or the $200. See here for details on that promo. Please do not ask for hookup codes in this post.

Please note: This WILL NOT stack with the free line. The free line ends 9/24, and this phone promo begins 9/25. There is NO WAY to get this phone for free using the free line. Please don't bother support trying to do it.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...-s20-fe-5g

Click the magenta text at the top of the page to see the offer for $500 off. Must be logged in to see the offer. To see the "free with add a line" offer, open in incognito. Please note the $500 off page currently says "when you add a line and trade in" but the adding a line part is a typo and not necessary.

So I went to the store and the tried to do immediate trade in for the pre-order, but the rep showed me the rejection in which the trade-in has to be mailed in. Boo. The guy said the phone qualifies and even checked for the water damage disqualifier, but like another SD'er said, we'll see what happens.

Question: Has anyone had experience with this? Any chance that when I do receive the FE and the mail-in label, I can just go back to the store instead to turn in the phone directly?

It looks like Costco isn't doing the $500 pre-order for FE (the specials sheets lists the Samsung special, like T-Mobile... but the list of phones does not include FE). Darn...

no, if you preorder or order online/phone, you have to mail in your trade in. If you you go to the store with it, theyll just be mailing it in also

Only way for them to accept the trade in on spot is to buy it after release date in the store - but then youre missing the potential $200 off with the hookup code (if it does end up working)

Can someone explain to me what this means (Taken from wiki community board):

"Is attached to the new device order to meet eligibility (see Trade-in steps)."

I plan on buying a used Galaxy S7, do I have to put a SIM card in and use it before I try to trade it in? Or can i take it straight to tmobile to trade it in?

I want to get this but not knowing if I'll get the insider $200 makes me uneasy..
I have several phones I could trade in for $500 credit but my concern is getting the insider deal. I have a tier 3 code though

So, went to the T-mobile store and traded in Note 9 plus, was given 158 instant credit which was applied to another phone balance on another line. Was told that remaining 342 will show as credits over 24 months. Got the Note 20 5g.

Also, the employee gave me the hook up code and I entered it with the IMEI of the new phone and it gave me a confirmation of the submission.

Note 9 was damaged in the back with the glass broken but camera was intact. They accepted it and checked all the boxes stating that it was in fine condition. And they will ship it. Should I be concerned about the 342 credit? Due to when they ship the phone and state that it was damaged?

Hoping both the 342 credit and the 200 hookup go through, which will then make the Note 20, $370 including tax.

Thoughts?

How long does porting out a number from 1 paid line to tello then porting onto a free line take? Would the paid line get a new nunber?
The porting usually complete within a day or sooner if you port on the weekday and complete on Monday if you port on the weekend, assuming there is no problem and no incorrect info submitted during the porting request. The last time I ported, it took about 20 minutes to complete on the weekday. Porting out the number would cancel the paid line.

Good chance you are OK but I've heard reports that even that the Tmo store accepted trade in, the Assurant service center has later denied the trade in. Seems like its hit or miss that Tmo employees have accepted trade ins with broken backs. I *think* official language is that its just the front screen that has to be intact

T-Mobile has posted their store link for the new S20 FE 5G announced today
https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...0214666383

The promotion is on T-Mobile's site here:
https://www.t-mobile.com/content/t-mobile/consumer/modals/samsung-gs20fe-500-trade-in-prospect.html [t-mobile.com]

- Buy the S20 FE 5G from T-Mobile on EIP
- Trade in any of the following devices:
Save $500
Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ
- Receive bill credits for $500 for the trade in device.

This promotion is 2020 Oct Samsung GS20 FE $500 with trade - offer t401 for those that want to look into the terms more themselves.

This list of trade-ins is slick as even at full retail the Pixel 3A never sold for $500 and it's been a long time since the Galaxy S7 series was valued that high.

But it gets better.

This deal should be able to be combined with the Hookup Type 3 listed in https://slickdeals.net/f/14326784-20-off-t-mobile-voice-lines-for-the-life-of-the-account-for-new-customers-porting-from-verizon-at-t-or-one-of-their-mvnos-or-200-off-a-5g-phone-for-existing-t-mobile-customers?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1
I will note that the Hookup discount requires that you receive the phone in hand to enter the IMEI number. This discount is currently listed to expire on Sept 30 so there is some risk in chasing it on a device that you are pre-ordering on the 25th and is not supposed to be in stores until Oct 2. Even without this extra deal, $199 is a great price on the device and is how I have the deal listed in the title.

But if you can successfully combine, this is no new line needed, trade in an old phone/find an inexpensive trade in, and use the hookup to get everything back except for the cost of the taxes on the original $699 cost.
Whether carrier allows SIM Card to be Reusable/Recyclable with another phone number?

Cricket Wireless: NO
Sprint: YES
ATT: YES, with some processing
Visible: ?
Verizon: ?
Mint: ?
T-Mobile: ?

In case anyone needs to know, here's the checklist from the Assurant inspection section of the instructions to send in your phone:

INSPECT
Does the Device that you are shipping match the Make & Model on the enclosed Receipt?
Does the Device power on when fully charged and is it able to send and receive calls and texts?
Does the LCD/screen work when turned on, without any cracks or void areas (i.e., missing pixels) on
the display screen?
A damaged LCD/screen can be traded in. However, damage may result in a reduction of the offer
and/or assessment value, including a possible resulting value of $0. A good LCD/screen works when
turned on, without any cracks or voids (e.g., missing pixels) on the display area.
Does the Device have liquid damage? Direct and indirect moisture or liquid can damage your Device
and it will not be eligible if it shows evidence of moisture.
Have you removed your personal data and any passwords or locks?
Have you disabled any anti-theft feature on your Device?
If you are trading in an iPhone®
/iPad®
, please refer to your iPhone/iPad instructions manual or contact
Apple®
Customer Support on how to disable the Find My iPhone/iPad feature before sending in
your Device.
If you send a Device that is not in working order and does not meet the Program's eligibility requirements, we will
not be able to credit your account.

Thanks, but I could always say I traded in a phone that met their requirements and inspection at the store. Any damage that happens should not be my responsibility. Hoping it does not come to that.

FYI, I had TForce confim that the $200 insider hookup codes are VALID as long as you order/preorder BEFORE Sept 30th even if the phone comes after that date

Quote :
Yes, absolutely!
The offer date is based upon the purchase date- which will be today! This will put you well within the qualified time frame, so you are golden there.
If you are worried, have the tmo rep you are speaking to, notate your account regarding this

It does. Frown I don't know if I should cancel my order and reorder with faster shipping to make sure it's within 14 days or hope for the best. I asked if I could change my order to a faster shipping option and they said they couldn't do it.

Just a random data point but on August 21st I received a Type 3 insider hookup code because I was going to purchase a OnePlus phone. I went to the site and logged in and entered my code and phone number. But I didn't end up buying the phone.

So I went in today and use the same code and it said I already had started a submission and click here to resume. It brought me to the page where you enter all your info and IMEI. So I'm not sure it really expires after 14 days. Maybe they'd deny me if I filled it in but it looks like it would take my submission.

I had regular shipping speed. They said I need to cancel and reorder if I want to change the shipping speed. Should I? The hookup code is tied to the phone number I put in not the order itself, is that correct? Idk...
