Based on the information from this thread and another community, I created a guide so that more people can hopefully navigate this deal easier and so questions won't be continuously repeated.

Because this will be a living document, I created a Google Doc for ease of updates: https://docs.google.com/document/...sp=sharing

Note: I am not a T-Mobile employee and this is my first-time doing a trade-in with a Hookup code, so I am learning alongside most people here; thus, my guide may not be fully accurate. Feel free to make suggestions for corrections if you notice any mistakes or parts that lack clarity. And if you found my guide helpful, please post a response here just so I know and will continue doing these. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Since this involves a trade-in, just want to remind folks that you can trade-in in person at a T-mobile corporate location and by doing so, avoid any surprises from mailing in your device

Starting 9/25 get a Galaxy S20 FE 5G for just $200 over 24 months via bill credits when you trade in an eligible device:

Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ

Or get one free via bill credits when you add a line.

THIS STACKS WITH THE $200 HOOKUP CODE! Remember, only one Insider Hookup code per account, whether it's the 20% or the $200. See here for details on that promo. Please do not ask for hookup codes in this post.

Please note: This WILL NOT stack with the free line. The free line ends 9/24, and this phone promo begins 9/25. There is NO WAY to get this phone for free using the free line. Please don't bother support trying to do it.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...-s20-fe-5g

Click the magenta text at the top of the page to see the offer for $500 off. Must be logged in to see the offer. To see the "free with add a line" offer, open in incognito. Please note the $500 off page currently says "when you add a line and trade in" but the adding a line part is a typo and not necessary.

Can I pre-order the S20 FE on EIP and trade in my S7, pay off the balance after 40 days and request for phone to be unlocked?? I was told by the T-Mobile rep that I cannot unlock the phone until after 24 months are over. Is that true? I have to wait 24 MONTHS in order to unlock the phone. They do not allow to pay off the phone early and unlock?
You can pay off the device early but you will loose bill credits after that

I don't agree, I bought an iPhone 11 2 months ago, trade-in my iPhone 6. Used the 11 for a month and didn't like it, so I paid it off and able to unlock the phone, I am selling the 11 and still getting my 24-month credits.

I think those people want to leave TMO. If you leave TMO, you won't get bill credits.

I bet these phones ship early and people may get them right on the 2nd or earlier
Anyone have experience with TMobile Preorders? Also, how certain are we on this 14-day expiring thing with the hookup code?I chose standard shiping so there's a real possibility it'll hit the 14-day mark from the original purchase date (yesterday).

I posted earlier in the thread but my code that's over 30 days old still was allowing me to submit.

Awesome - hopefully no issues here. Also hoping they ship it prior to actual release date but we'll see.

Was it a type 3 code?

I went to a store near me and got the code from the rep in the store. Downside to that, I ended up paying $30 for sim card and fees.

Completed port last night and submitted BYOD on the "free" line.

Now debating about trading in a S8 and using the type 3 code. Since i have other lines i could do this deal so 2 rebates aren't coming from the free line.

I do have the hookup 20 percent for a couple of years. From what i can gather it should be ok to use the type 3, is this correct?

I do understand once its used can't use it again on the account later down the road.

Regarding paying off devices, staying with TM, and still getting credits. I have done this many times. Hope policies haven't changed, Usually TForce people know what they are talking about. But I asked them last night, in order to free up more EIP credit, could I pay down some of the devices. Here is their response.

"Great question! unfortunately paying off those devices would cut down the amount of credits we'd give monthly for those phones Frown I'm sorry about that my friend!"

To which I responded I don't believe that is correct.

This morning a different TForce rep got back to me and said I could pay them down, but not all the way or I will loose my credits.

"Again you can pay down your new installments to increase your equipment available installment balance, just remember you do not want to fully pay off any one installment plan. Does this help?"

Such misinformation, unless they have changed.

How to trade S7 which is not on the account?? There is no way to change the device on 'trade-in ' while ordering.

Mostly, the submission guideline is 30 days from date of purchase. You may still able to submit it after that, I guess, but then they may consider that invalid submission. Also, you entering the code and not completing the submission, has no bearing as to if someone can claim that code or no, unless you got that code from agent and NOT from public forum.

Talk to agent and be clear that you don't want to trade-in the device that is currently on line, instead you'll be trading a spare S7 from carrier X. I did mine yesterday.
Alternatively, you can remove the SIM and put it on S7 and turn-on S7, make a call and you'll see that S7 on the line, you complete order and switch SIM back.
