This is definitely worth considering if you're looking for a DIY Peloton. I purchased it a few weeks ago as a form of home cardio and I'm loving it. If you're moving up from this price point, you're doing so for on-board bike computers & possible built-in screens.

This is one of the more recommended bikes as a DIY Peloton. You're getting magnetic resistance, belt driven, 4 way adjustable seat, & adjustable handlebars. Throw on a cadence sensor + figure out the comparative resistance with Peloton classes and you have yourself a solid DIY Peloton.

I would have considered purchasing a Peloton, but Peloton locks you into a $40/m subscription if you purchase their bike. The same subscription you can access for $12/m if you don't own a peloton product. If you're set on a Peloton and want to save some $$, they will be introducing used models in the near future.

Tempting. We sold our treadmill last year and wife has no where to hang our extra clothes. How many hangers will this accommodate? I couldn't find that in the specs.

This model has magnetic resistance so that shouldn't be a problem.

I had this as a peloton ripoff and sold it. It's a great solid bike but it does not have a way to know what gear your on. You can buy cadence meters and speed devices but nothing for gears. As such there was no way for me to effectively follow the peloton instructors. I have since sold it and bought the echelon cheapo model and with a little chart I am able to follow along and more importantly, follow my improvement.
That's exactly why I'm leaning toward the Echelon. I have a Sunny and use it fine by feel but having a discrete number, relative to Peloton, could be helpful. So for the same price, do you consider the Echelon Connect Sport to be better?

After comparing these two, I just bought the Echelon connect sport from walmart at $499. I feel it is better and just works out of the box.

Wouldn't Echelon sports connect a better option for same price. It is a solid bike. It has magnetic resistance and feels similar to Peloton. Also Echelon sports connect out of the box supports, Candace, speed, resistance, output, distance.

I also just bought the Echelon Connect Sport. I can still cancel/return but seems to be the best option at this price. The discreet resistance numbers is what sold me. Not important but I also think it looks better/more sleek than any of the 'boxy' looking Sunny bikes.

Can you tell me if the Echelon app shows the power output metric? With measured discrete resistance and cadence, it should be an easy calculation. If so, it's another feature that the Sunny doesn't have.

EDIT: Just saw your reddit thread and pictures so I see there is power. Super helpful. Thanks!

Hi @bruinhd! I bought an Echelon Sport from WalMart a month or so ago and have been using it on Echelon's 3 month free trial. I used to spin a lot at the gym and the bike is great!

Are you using Peloton just for the classes? Or are you keeping track of stats via the cadence sensor there too? Would it work to watch the Peloton class and use the free ride on Echelon to track stats? Or would I be missing out on something by doing it that way?

Thanks! Smilie

I was looking at bruinhd's pictures and it looks like they're keeping track of stats via Wahoo cadence sensor and external HR monitor through the Peloton app and also tracking metrics like resistance, cadence, power, distance through the Echelon app. For Peloton, you kind of need both if you want to monitor resistance (only seen on the Echelon app).

Downside is you need an Apple device to connect cadence to the Peloton app using external sensors (Android user here) and you need a separate device with the Echelon app to see the resistance/power numbers from the internal sensors. As an Android user, I plan to log all metrics through the Echelon app or Wahoo/Fit as I do now but without resistance/power history.

You can't connect the internal Echelon sensors with the Peloton app so you'll need 2 separate devices. To get cadence/HR on the Peloton app, you'll need an Apple device and external sensors. My post above explains in a little more detail.

Unless it's a $3K Peleton, I'm won't be buying it.
So what you're saying is that you want to buy a Peloton for more money than it costs? Can I just buy one for $1895 and sell it you for $3000?

I read your post on Reddit and gave it an up vote as I just grabbed the amazon echelon that was on sale few weeks back. Do u know if it's possibly to use Fitbit intercession for heart rate of another subreddit to look at for more info. Thanks in advance

I have this bike, got it on offerup for 350 brand new. Not that this helps anybody. If anybody has questions lemme know.

The seat and the handlebar are very adjustable in any way imaginable. I haven't run into any issues with this at all. I use it with peloton digital and it works very well with a bluetooth sensor

I see some people saying to buy the Echelon Sport Connect - isn't that out of stock on both Amazon/Walmart? I would've went for that too, but it's been out of stock and doesn't look like it's coming back anytime soon.
