This is definitely worth considering if you're looking for a DIY Peloton. I purchased it a few weeks ago as a form of home cardio and I'm loving it. If you're moving up from this price point, you're doing so for on-board bike computers & possible built-in screens.

This is one of the more recommended bikes as a DIY Peloton. You're getting magnetic resistance, belt driven, 4 way adjustable seat, & adjustable handlebars. Throw on a cadence sensor + figure out the comparative resistance with Peloton classes and you have yourself a solid DIY Peloton.

I would have considered purchasing a Peloton, but Peloton locks you into a $40/m subscription if you purchase their bike. The same subscription you can access for $12/m if you don't own a peloton product. If you're set on a Peloton and want to save some $$, they will be introducing used models in the near future.

Tempting. We sold our treadmill last year and wife has no where to hang our extra clothes. How many hangers will this accommodate? I couldn't find that in the specs.

This model has magnetic resistance so that shouldn't be a problem.

I bought this bike in April of 2019. I still love it. Bought the wahoo cadence and speed sensors for it and use with les mills streaming. Great affordable alternative to P.

I have another model Sunny bike, with magnetic resistance, I use as a "DIY" Peloton experience. Having used a Peloton bike, I much prefer the Sunny bike. It's a sturdier bike with a bigger flywheel. I added a Wahoo cadence sensor and I'm good to go. I use Apple watch for calorie/workout tracking when I feel like it.

The Peloton bike is terribly expensive, but the $50 a month membership that's required to use it that is the bigger issue. You're looking at $3000 your first year minimum. My first year was $700. If you don't have a gym membership, I can see it being a good investment. If you don't, you're doing nothing but saving money if you "DIY." The only things you don't get by not using a Peloton bike is "Shout outs" from the instructor, resistance level, output, and leaderboards. Suggested resistance level is easily achieved by just listening to the instructor. They will tell you how difficult each section should be. Output is only necessary in HIIT training and pretty much irrelevant.

This was the one I got. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

This is pretty much the standard from what most people I see using. Comes to $35 each. Cadence is important. Speed, good to see but not necessary IMO. It's important to note that this should sync to the Peloton app but only on iOS/Apple mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod). Their Android Peloton development has always been waaay behind and you can't sync cadence/speed sensors.

Quick question: I bought the old grey and red version of this bike and purchased a Cateye device to give me some stats while I'm pedaling.

Am I correct in thinking it doesn't matter where on the wheel (inner diameter or outer) that I place the magnets for the sensor, it will read RPM the same? Also wondering if there is any way to test cadence accuracy while pedaling.

Wouldn't Echelon sports connect a better option for same price. It is a solid bike. It has magnetic resistance and feels similar to Peloton. Also Echelon sports connect out of the box supports, Candace, speed, resistance, output, distance.
Correct. I was able to get the Amazon/Echelon Connect bike and it is SOLID and I love it. They're trying to rebrand it and will be available for sale again. Its great with or without the Echelon app also. I've used Echelon connect app and will try peloton app with this bike soon, also.

I use this bike every day with the Peloton App and I love it! It is so steardy/Solid and that's coming from a guy who was over 300 pounds when I started using it. The resistance is good and gives you a great workout. Always buy a bike with a heavy fly wheel can't scale up the fly wheel but you can always take resistance off if it's too heavy

Can anyone else comment on the above bike vs the one in this deal?
It's ultimately a preference of fly wheel weight and built in cadence sensor. A heavier fly wheel will provide more resistance and a smoother ride once you get going, but will always cost more money. You can always add a Wahoo cadence sensor later to a bike, but you can't increase the weight of the flywheel.

If you are new to using a spin bike, you probably have no preference on flywheel weight
