Live now. (product not found/ sold out currently?)
I figured this was worth calling out from the Costco flyer since the Blueair 121 has been a popular deal at 300 fairly recently. This is the bigger version (620 Sq ft) of the one that was 200 at Amazon during prime day - the 211+ (540 Sq ft.)

They always say that. If they can really match the performance then they would just say HEPA instead of all that meaningless, non-quantifiable justifications. Read any independent advisory and you'll see only HEPA filters are recommended, because even then real-world performance will be much worse than those lab tests in controlled conditions.

Edit: HEPA opens up a huge chunk of the market. It's like a student claiming to have passed an SAT-equivalent test. Either take it or don't but don't try to claim something you didn't take.

The filters aren't HEPA but Blueair claims their system performance beats true HEPA. They use a combination filter and electrostatic. By not using a more restrictive filter they say they can move more air. Consumer Reports backs them up by ranking their little brothers as #1 and 2.

I bought 2 of these for $300 and am very happy with them. Can I get Costco to refund the difference or do I need to return and rebuy if it's only an online deal?

Beware this is not a true HEPA filter.
Is this the case for all Blue Air machines?
I have a 403 but also have my 10 yr old IQ Air and run both but a filter replacement on the IQ Air costs about $400 so the Blue Air stays on all the time. I know it's not comparable but I thought it was at least a true HEPA. Where do you look for this info? Thanks!

121 or 211+ for the same price? I just received the 211+ from Prime Day deal but wondering if this is a better deal. Thanks!

The filter is not true HEPA. That's how they can move so much air. However, the performance of the system (filter + electrostatic) is supposed to be better than true HEPA as they claim 99.97% down to 0.1 microns. True HEPA is 99.97% down to 0.3 microns. https://www.blueair.com/us/hepasi...ology.html

i'll chime in on the brand. i've owned a blueair many years ago (+$600) when they were a more exclusive, high end brand. in recent years, they started making/focusing on budget tier air purifiers i guess to compete with the flooded market of air purifiers nowadays. blueair is a swedish company and i'm pretty sure they were made in sweden when i bought one (again, a long time ago) but they moved their manufacturing to china. there are tons and tons of air purifier brands out there (thanks amazon) but blueair is legit and very reputable (the founder of blueair was a former executive of electrolux).

winix is a korean company and koreans are pretty serious when it comes to air purifiers--and practically every household owns one. winix (and also coway) is a company that specializes in air purifiers (among other small things). although winix is very popular, it is more of a low to mid tier budget brand. something like coway, LG, and even samsung are higher tier when in comes to air purifiers (although LG and samsung air purifiers aren't very popular in the US). doesn't mean it's better or worse but just putting it out there. thanks to placements in costco and amazon, winix established themselves as a mainstream brand in the US.

personally, i don't think air purifiers are rocket science (unless you go into medical fields or NASA). you put a good filter in and you blow out (circulate) good air, you got yourself a good air purifier. there are a lot of people here comparing this blueair model to the costco's winix c545...i personally think the winix is the better deal (at $99) because it comes with 2 set of filters (2 years worth). and i would think that using two winix in a room would be slightly better than a single blueair at the same cost. but i don't think you can go wrong with this blueair 121. i think $200 is a fantastic price. and if i didn't already own like 7 air purifiers, i would definitely jump in.

I am in the same boat. From what I can tell the 121 really is just a slightly bigger 211+. Same noise and power draw. So basically the same fan just on a larger filter.
So if you don't need the increased coverage, I'm not sure if it would be worth the hassle (at least that's what I'm telling myself).
The 121's filter cost 100
The 211+'s filter cost 70
Both models seem popular enough to have the filters stocked at multiple retailers so both should be equally easy to replace down the road.
If anyone finds any other difference please let us know.

Also, it looks like w sub through the blueair site the non 'extra protection' filter is $67.99 for the 121 & $59.49 for the single option for the 211. 121 extra uses some honeycomb structure.

Assuming the same materials, seems like the 121 w a larger filter should filter more air over its lifetime as well (both rated 6 months (4,380 hours) when used 24 hours a day).
211 = 12.1 x 20.7 x 3.1 in
121 = 20.1 x 20.7 x 3.1 in

Yes, you can get a refund for the difference if it's been 30 days of less since you bought them. Here's a link to Costco's price adjustment policy.

You can either call customer service for the price adjustment or use the following link to request the price adjustment for your online order.

I wasn't aware of the prime day deal for the 211+ but I was thinking about buying the 211+ for $240+tax from Bed, Bath & Beyond using a 20% coupon (regular price is $300). However, now I'm leaning towards getting the121 from Costco instead even though the filters are more expensive. If you pay with a Costco Visa you'll get the extended warranty plus the great Costco return policy. For the smaller bedrooms I'm going to get the Blueair 411 for $96+tax after 20% off coupon from Bed, Bath & Beyond. There's also a coupon site that offers decent cash back for BBB as well.

It *says* it matches HEPA performance:

"Our unique combination of electrostatic and mechanical filtration that we call HEPASilent™ filtration technology sets us apart. The combination allows us to use filters that are less dense and require less air pressure than traditional HEPA filters without a loss in performance— resulting in quieter and more energy efficient air purifiers."

That sounds like sharper image marketing.

I have both and it is like comparing an apple to a grape. The blueair is much bigger and nicer and works much better.
How does it work much better?
