The "Up to $500" eGift is:
$500 for Galaxy S20 family (Note is online only)
$450 for Xs, XsMax, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.
$400 for regular 11.
Up to $250 for trade in is always YMMV based on what you're trading in.
a little late to the party

So its not going to be $ 250 trade in value for devices. so the trade in value may dip for iPhone 7 and above till Iphone XR 128 GB (im not sure if XR has 128gig variation).
SO... if you're hoping to unlock it, do yourself a favor and boot it up with the SIM that you bought it with. Otherwise, the carrier it's locked to won't have any record of you buying it, and may not be able to unlock it. For example, you used to be able to put a Verizon SIM in these phones, and since Verizon didn't lock, they would be unlocked. But Verizon now locks for a short period (supposedly to avoid theft issues), so you'd need to be on Verizon to get them to unlock it.
If you bought it on T-Mobile, and stuck a Verizon or AT&T SIM in on the FIRST BOOT,, your device will be locked to a carrier on which you don't have an account. Trust me, it will be a mess to untangle. AFTER the first boot, you can try another SIM, but if it says "INVALID SIM", you'll know it's locked to a different carrier.
Just saying......
