For anyone debating this versus the new Air, you have to look at the Air the same way you would the Pro. Only true creatives and those looking for the utmost premium experience will see the true value in the Air.

I went with the regular iPad after much debate and don't regret it one bit. After using/owning every level of iPad in the last, having the "cheap" version has its advantages. First being that this design, while some say is outdated, has been in production for so long that many of its quirks have been ironed out. The lack of laminated display also means you won't have costly replacements, nor will you see the level of backlight bleed or bezel pressure points that rough handling can cause issues with.

The screen quality is also excellent for content consumption. The lack of Truetone is my biggest gripe, but you'd only notice the difference comparing it side by side with another model.

I hope some of this info can be helpful to those of you looking. At the end of the day, I would say take one of these and put the extra money into nice accessories.
I just looked into the specifics of this myself. This is what I found on their website:

The 2nd year warranty is offered on the following items:
Televisions
Projectors
Computers*
Major Appliances†

*Excluding Touchscreen Tablets.
†Refrigerators (above 10 cu. ft.), freezers, ranges, cooktops, over-the-range microwaves, dishwashers, water heaters, washers and dryers.
At Costco now, they have the space gray at this price in store

https://phobio.com/tradein/costco/
Thanks for the link. I didn't know that Costco does trade-in.

2017 5th Gen ipad Costco is giving only $100. Best buy is giving $120 where as Apple.com is giving $150 But apple has no sale on ipads. During Thanksgiving day also not sure what Apple offers

I'm tempted, but I use facetime a lot and the 1.2mp camera kills it for me. Will spend a bit more to get a used Air or older generation Pro.

Little bit of good info here, but ill be honest and no disrespect, just my analysis and interpeetation -

a good portion (like 75% +) does sound alot like ur reaching far back to convince urself mostly, but also others, that this model is not only sufficient, but somehow even better or superior in many ways to an AIR that just aren't true .

I say spend more and get the one that DOES look, feel, and perform better - and see if you feel great and love if after a few days or 1-2 weeks even.
Leverage apples new found generosity and forgiveness, and try & buy to your hearts content without penalty if u do decide to return or downgrade/exchange

I could use iphone 12 and be fine. Or iphone 12 pro and be fine, but also feel GREAT holding that substantial and sexy stainless body, and enjoying those few but exclusive / unique pro features and premium hardware, better camera, and the 200+ additional nits of brighness.

But i tried the pro 1st and then again at the same time as the non pro, to make sure i knew what i would LOSE or sacrifice and i realized i want the pro, and worth the minimal cost difference (esp over 1-2 yrs of monthly payments, but even if 1 time/upfront..)

Same with ipad vs air / pro. Ipad is much less of a lower end/downgrade to those than in previous years, but its still not the one that makes you feel as satusfied or happy to use, hold, look at, etc.

So to make sure you FEEL the same and not just agree in theory, u should live with both together or try the better model 1st then downgrade and see if u still agree Smilie

I went with Best Buy at the same price yesterday since there was a AMEX offer for $25 back on $250 spend + they include 4 months of Apple Music and News.

Where was this Amex 25 off of 250?

Another thing to note is that when you get it from Apple directly, the delivery dates are much longer. So if you don't want to wait until early/mid December, it's best to get it from other places.

I think the price will drop down closer to ~$250 as Black Friday comes closer. It has for the last two years but then again.... a lot of people are needing ipads for video conferencing especially students. Holiday returns make it a solid purchase for $280 in the event the price does drop.

Same here, Air has A14 and this has A12. Debating on getting ipad Air to future proof it.

Might be decent idea as ipads last almost forever. Unfortunately ipad 2s are kinda dead as it doesnt even support the youtube app. But safari still plays it. A14 will probably have enough grunt for 10+ years seeing it's basically an M1 with a few less cores/bandwidth.

365 for the 8th gen 10" 128gb is pretty slick.

Not saying I regret buying the mini at 350, but I rue and lament it.
That smaller screen is still way more portable and desirable at times.
