Ring Black Friday deal for ring secure 14 piece $199 is back till Nov 30. Was going to purchase the Costco deal but this has extra sensors and motion detector and keypad. All other items including cameras are also on sale including floodlight for $189.

Comes with free security yard sign for $14.99! Checkout with Paypal for additional 5% cb with freedom effectively dropping this to $190 for some folks.

Looks like Amazon has the 14 piece with free echo dot back at $199 as well. You won't be able to check out with PayPal for $10 cash back and won't get the security yard sign but it's a free echo dot. I can't decide which to pull the trigger on..

recent previous deals for reference.

got this last time and so far so good.

something to watch out for during shipping is that they will send you the 10 piece kit and separate additional pieces. well, with those additional pieces you might get charged for faster shipping even if you have prime. I had to chat and put my foot down to get that additional shipping back.

i did have 2 different motion sensors trigger a tamper alarm in the middle of the night. a simple open and close of the sensor fixed that. so, at pairing when you pull the first time plastic battery tabs you might want to open and close the sensor.

ebay has good prices on additional pieces like 2 contacts for ~$25, motion for $20-25, and others.

you do not have to buy the gen2 first alert smoke alarm with the scanable QR code. you can use the gen1 without the QR code. ~$30 ebay

The Ecolink garage door tilt sensor can be had for $16-30 ebay.

when it comes to the dome sensor, it definitely is NOT worth $40. battery operated and not loud at all. they can sometimes be found on ebay for $20-30. i plan to hack a couple with a relay to trigger a siren horn.

if you get the ring cam, there is a known bricking issue where when you set them up and they immediately update the firmware they can brick. I did have to exchange one.

if you get the Lighting hub, there is a known issue where the hub will not communicate with older android cells during setup when it links to your cell to get your router ssid and password. if you have that happen just use a newer cell or tablet.

if you have keypads chime in addition to the hub they will be slightly out of sync (if even tells you this). sounds like an echoing effect.

if the keypad red wifi light comes on then you need to use the plugin range extender between the hub and keypad. rule of thumb if you have a good sized house you want to use one repeater in each room or so. additional can be had for $20-25 ebay.

i use the new ring keypad 2nd gen for both ring and smartthings. to differentiate between i put a transparent colored dot on the ones for smartthings.

Those buying RING system for home use, consider buying the First Alert Z-Wave Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm, 3-pack $80 at COSTCO https://www.costco.com/.product.100487243.html

These will connect with the RING as 2 separate devices each (Smoke & CO) and will notify RING in case they are triggered. If it is smoke trigger, they will call you and the fire dept after confirmation. If CO is triggered, they will call the fire dept right away.

These are necessary for some insurance companies to give you a discount on your homeowner's insurance policy.

Hello,
How many do you need I have the one that came with Alexa and wondering if I can pare them to this alarm. Thanks

These are Z wave and they are the only ones which will connect to the RING base station. The WiFi First Alert do not. Ideally, you should have 1 CO sensor outside each bedroom.

These take 2 AA batteries and the devices are good for seven years for CO sensing.

Are you able to have more than one person on the Ring App? As in a primary and a secondary user?

I just called amazon and you guys won't believe this but you can return the extra keypad for $30. They won't let me cancel cause it's about to ship separately on Sunday but customer care said to call back in and schedule a return. Bam $170 for 13 piece

Some said you can only have one base station/siren per household ring system, guess there is the limit if I want to place another siren/base in another room.
Only one base yes, but multiple sirens: https://ring.com/products/dome-siren

But looks like both base and keyboard can play chirps:
https://community.ring.com/t5/Rin...td-p/19299

So you can get extra keyboards and make them chirp.

Do they interconnect through hardwire as well, where one device will trigger all others?

Newbie question here - if I trade in an old ring camera, can that 25% apply to this promo pack of 14 pieces?

No, these are battery only and are not hard wired. I'm using them as an addition to my hard-wired ones for that reason.

I think it is case-by-case on how you use it. We are used to our old alarm with a keypad by the door and another in the bedroom. We purposely don't bring our phones into the bedroom at night, so the additional keypad makes sense --plus we like to hear the chimes and such as the doors open (and we'll use it to cover the spot where the old one was). But, if you are the type to never be far from your phone and will usually use the app, a second keypad probably isn't necessary.
