The last "free line" wasn't free, and made me lose my grandfathered plan, even though I was promised multiple times it was fine. Proceed with caution.

it should include all the same benefits as the plan..so if your plan is all lines are unlimited, then the new line would be as well.
How exciting! Thank you!

New lines (including the free one tomorrow) get the Pixel 4a 5G for half off, or if you trade in an eligible device free, via 24mo bill credits.
Don't have to have a new line either if you want it half off. It's free if you do both I believe..

Careful with this. I got a 'free' line in July that ended up not being free. I worked with customer service for 4 months trying to get it resolved. Even though all the documentation said that it should be free, their computer system wouldn't let it be free, and would move it back to paid about 4 days after the CSR moved it back to free. I literally spent at least 10 hours working on this over the months. So, I am now paying for the 'free' line.
Similar issue with mine, the phone that I ordered on the free line was lost by UPS, they had me order another as a replacement and they have been unable to get the promotion to apply to that replacement order.

Every month I've had to message T-mobiles customer service about it and they always tell me the same thing, that they have added the promotion back and I should see the discount the following months bill, but after a few days it gets removed.

They have added the $20 line credit every time no problem, just wish i didn't have to go through the hassle.

Can you remove a paid line to lower the cost of your bill and keep the free lines?
Can someone please let me know about this as well?
I currently have 3 lines. Can one of those turn into the free one? Or is it exclusively a NEW line? If it has to be NEW, can I get it and remove the 3rd? Or would that automatically take away my free line? Embarrassment

I currently have 8 lines. Will it mess up my account adding the free one?

I'd love to do this at Costco for the $200 gift card, but I'm worried about losing my other promotions. Thinking it may be better to settle for the $100 from T-mobile and have one of their reps add it (if it's even possible with my plan)
Yes it does !! Proceed with caution and try to do with an experience t-force expert. You have to move to a 9-12 line plan and someone knowledgible should add a compatible plan that keep your existing benefits or grandfathered plan

From my experience with all free line promotion, you can't remove/cancel the existing line. Check with T-mobile rep in your local area.

What's the best way to port out a number from T-Mobile Account A and then port in that same number to T-Mobile Account B with this free line promo? What is a good, cheap carrier to port out to for a quick holding period in between the transfers?

You cannot remove a paid line until one year after the free line has been added or your free line will become a paid line. Also you must maintain at least 2 paid lines at all times to have any of the free lines.

Well, looks like Select Choice is not getting anything again.
Makes me wonder if we should "get with the times." We are paying about $130 (after tax/fees) for 4 lines (none were free) on "Select Choice FAM UNL TT 50" which seems pretty competitive still, though we continue to miss out on freebies like this.

It's a new free line. Sadly not "reduce everyone's bill by 1 line" ... that wouldn't make any sense for T-Mobile.

You must not cancel any line for 12 months in order to keep the new free line. So get a free line now and then cancel the 3rd line after 12 months.

Do you know, if Costco $200 would stack with $100 BYOD promo? Also, any idea, if I have to mention free line at Costco, and, lastly, does T-Mobile account name and Costco membership name need to match?
Quote from Jman100 :
I believe only business accounts can get more than 12 lines. For consumer accounts I believe another account would have to be created, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
