The last "free line" wasn't free, and made me lose my grandfathered plan, even though I was promised multiple times it was fine. Proceed with caution.

It was free for me. And still is. And I've been in a grandfathered plan for years. Didn't change mine. Aorry about yours.

I'd like to know this also. My wife started a new T-mo acct with insider discount. I want to cancel my T-mo acct and move to hers. Figuring I can port out my number to GV and link to the new 'free' number.

Is this the best way? Any help with the sequence of steps would be greatly appreciated. Not familiar w/ GV or snags to watch out for. Thx
I think you will need a new number for the free line. Any number that within 90 days from T-mobile or Subsidies won't be considered a new one they call it change of responsibility. You can maybe port out your number to Visible to get their BYOD 100 rebate and in the same time add a new number to your wife's account as free line. After you receive all the rebate from T-mobile, you can call T-mobile and tell them that you need to change a number which you port in your existing number and ditch the number you get for free line.
This shouldn't be considered as cancel a line since the line is still there. Only the number is changed. However, be careful when you do that, as when I did that, I lost my insider and autopay discount for that line even though they told me that it is not going to affect any promotion. I had to call back and have them added the promotion back to my account.

Hello,
I subscribed to a 3-line TMO plan on the 20th, and got the 3rd Line On Us promo and 3x $99 S20 FE deals. The phones are out for delivery today (The 24th). I have not ported in my numbers yet (From Verizon).
If I wait until tomorrow and port in my Verizon numbers, will I get $100 each line?
What about also getting a free line combined with 3rd Line on Us?

I'm on the T-Mobile ONE Unlimited 55+, code ONE60TIFM, which apparently is not eligible for the promo, and I just cancelled a line that had fallen unused. The rep mentioned that I would not be eligible for any sort of new-line promos for 30 days. Something for people to be aware of if they are trying to cancel a line in preparation for an offer.

By the way, I followed the reddit instructions to find the rate plan code. Among the JSON is a list of capabilities that make sense, like Call Waiting, except for one: "GoatFell Indicator" (soc GTFL). WTF is that? Google has not been any help, providing only information on a mountain peak in Scotland.

Glad I waited on holding onto my pixel 2xl instead of getting the 4a 5g for half off from the other deal.
Now I just got to figure out the process as my SOC is valid for this (I did it earlier in the year). If maybe someone can point it out if I'm incorrect I'd appreciate it:
  • Port over line to a new line in my account
  • Order the 4a 5g w/ trade in of my 2xl on the new line (get 24 mos credits to pay for the 4a)
  • Submit port-in rebate when I get the new phone

Are you sure your plan does not make you eligible for add-on free line (11/25 promo). I have the same plan (T mobile One plan) per this T-mo rep (see link reference) the maximum number of voice lines possible on T-Mobile ONE is 12. What am I missing here, anyone has experience adding free lines to fourth line is on us (3 paid + 1 free activated from before 2018) , please chime in. Thanks! LINK here [t-mobile.com],

Side-bar: How do I make sure I have one of the older plans that allows more than 4 lines to be active on the T-mobile one plan? Thanks for checking.

I've been contemplating this since the last free line deal. I'm don't have an older plan like you but my current plant (T-Mobile ONE All in Promo) only allows a max of 3 lines and I would have to pay $40 per lune if I want to add any lines above the 3 line max for the promo. I guess because I don't really need the extra lines it's no real rush to move from my current plan but I hate not being able to get in on some of these deals. Although I'd be paying more per month to just have the chance to possibly get in on these deals about once a year or so.

If I can find out from Xfinity if they can get me a cheaper package if I remove my Netflix from there then it might make it worth for me to upgrade my plan since it includes Netflix there for the Magenta Plus.

They may be able to migrate you to the 2/$120 ONE plan if you find the right rep. I'd try t-force. Your bill will go up a bit but you'd be eligible for things like this.

The excel sheet is a list of all known SOCs, not the eligible ones. Eligible ones are in an image in the main post. Value essentials is probably not eligible due to being a discounted plan.

yeah same as usual

Standard phone voice line, so like any other phone line on your plan. $20 activation fee if done in store or via support, no activation fee if done by yourself online on the website. $10 sim card fee applies regardless.

Jman, You are amazing, Your advice on reddit is always appreciated as well. You inspire us to pay it forward. Thanks

I have seen nothing conclusive for the Mil plan. I'm on the One Military Plan (SOC TMSERVE9) which isn't in the list of SOCs in OP. However, the last deal of $250 BYOD, one of the lines became a free line and it has been free for several months. I'm not sure why or how, just reporting. I wouldn't count on it, and if it stops being free I'll get rid of it.

Can someone tell what are right steps to add free line via Costco for $200 rebate without messing up current promotions on your plan?
The BYOD $200 promotion is straight forward. You bring your phone and have your phone added or ported over to T-Mobile. They will provide you with the paperwork needed to submit for the $200 Costco cash card. When I did it, you had 30 days to submit the rebate. You will receive a confirmation after submission and you can keep checking back, but you should receive the $200 cash card in the mail in about 3 months.

Also when I ported over two lines to my existing T-Mobile account at Costco, there were no activation fees or charges for the SIM cards.

But how Costco knows which code to add for free line?, I want to make sure they won't mess up my current promotions on my rate plan
