The last "free line" wasn't free, and made me lose my grandfathered plan, even though I was promised multiple times it was fine. Proceed with caution.

I want to do 3 things tomorrow. Get the free line, port in a number, and trade in my old pixel phone (may need to get a new battery). Yall think I can do all that online, or do I need to go on store for device trade in. I want the pixel 4a. I have the 3a on my main line and love it.

would Costco rep add it for free? or rather do they have the authority to add it for free?
Costco reps just add a regular line. Like T-Mobile phone or in-store reps just add a regular line. Or you just add a line yourself online. If you plan qualifies, the line is automatically free in T-Mobile's system. Just add a line in whatever method is most convenient/beneficial and it'll be free if your plan qualifies.

Makes me wonder if we should "get with the times." We are paying about $130 (after tax/fees) for 4 lines (none were free) on "Select Choice FAM UNL TT 50" which seems pretty competitive still, though we continue to miss out on freebies like this.
Thought I would throw a bone since these threads have helped me despite being on the select choice fam unl tt 50 (SLCULTT50). I am currently paying ~$65 for 4 lines on the select choice mentioned with everything unlimited. the high-level breakdown is $50 for 2 lines. 2 add a lines at $5 each. 15% gov discount. heres the golden ticket if you can get a rep to add the soc code to each line - 10sfmgb. based on some others trying, seems like you may need the right rep to add it for you but its given my account unlimited data with 10gb tethering per line at $0. use below link for some reference. good luck.

I cannot answer that for sure - After reading through others experiences in this post some have had success and some have had to call and get it fixed. Others have reported that they have chatted with T-mobile today and were told that it would automatically be free if added at Costco simply because their SOC qualifies. I guess if I was being prudent I should do the same, so it's on record somewhere at least.

This promo DOES NOT stack with the following phone promotions:

- iPhone "On Us"
- Free smartphone w/AAL
- iPhone BOGO
- $950 off iPhone 12 Pro
- $99 Galaxy S20 F

So as long as it's not one of the above promos it should work right?

For example get up to 50% off iphone SE when you add a line.

or...

Purchase a moto e on a qualifying payment plan.
Add a new line of service to your qualifying plan for this phone.
Receive 24 monthly bill credits totaling up to $150

Free voice line includes same calls/text/data as the other lines on your plan.
That's not always true. I did the free line last time and it does not include data. I might be able to convince T-Mobile to add data for free but I haven't tried yet because it's a backup line only for voice right now.

They'll fix any "no data" issues with grandfathered plans.

Wondering if i can get some tips from you guys. I am currently on SC North America 2gb plan. I have 3 paid lines and 4 free lines. However, I want to switch to Magenta or Magenta plus. I don't need all of the free lines, at minimum I just need 4 lines (and its current phone numbers). If i switch to Magenta, is there still a buy 2 lines get 1 or 2 lines free and then add a line using this promo? Will they let me go down in the number of lines and still get this offer? Any advice would be appreciated. I am tired of paying taxes for these free lines i hardly use.

Hey guys, I want to clarify this deal. I'm a bit confused. Does this apply to essential 55+? How do i get a free line? Do i have to go to Costco or just call in?

It does include whatever data you have. It may require a phone call, but it can be done.

Here's my plan. Go to Costco, explain deal and add line (I know they probably won't know about promotion, but I'll explain anyway). Get $200 gift card for that eventually. Go home and chat with T-mobile to verify line added was free and nothing got screwed up with other lines. Go to T-mobile store and buy S20 FE with a $500 trade in credit from old S7 I have. Net with Costco GC is then $0+tax on phone. Yes, I have to wait to get that "net $0" with the GC and bill credits, but I'm good with that myself, others may not be.
As op comments, if you do EIP for Samsung S20 FE on the free line, you will lose free line credit.

That's weird if the free line doesn't match your other lines. I haven't had that happen to me and I have added 3 voice lines over the years
